Stories like this show the emptiness of Democrats’ “they should remove their masks” rhetoric. It’s a cancerous organization that they are afraid to cut out. Democrats are to brave politics what a carrot juice enema is to cancer treatment.

As an artist and the curator of this project, I know how much consideration went into image placement; how image placement impacts pacing and the readers’ understanding of the book. But audio books are not physical objects, and I’ve had feedback that page composition is distracting when listened to.

I make each description as vivid as possible, so the meaning of each image can be understood. Do I also need to include information about where the photo is on the page/image size??

ICE seems to get completely flummoxed when they’re being yelled at by white men over 35. They kind of put their heads down and shuffle their feet. It’s like their kryptonite.

Fascinated at how news coverage in #roc is reticent to mention how Joe Morelle’s son’s lobbying of Monroe County for AirBNB included sending MC the first draft of opt-out legislation, that they sat on for 200 days before pushing it through at the last minute.

The ability to recognize this as Nazi propaganda hinges on media literacy and a basic understanding of American history. Many Americans have neither of those skills. That is by design.

They're not hiding it, folks—straight up neo-Nazi advertising, from the font to the language to the 11 stars for the Confederacy. Then you have the DHS openly using white nationalist language of "remigrate", which means ethnic cleansing. This is who MAGA is now.

This month might be the first time I have to go to a food bank as an adult. And if not this month then probably next. I use my SNAP mostly to feed my dad because his SNAP isn’t enough to feed him. I don’t think I’ll be able to afford groceries for us both out of pocket. HOLD THE DAMN LINE.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez@aoc.bsky.social

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person. The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person. People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives. And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

I think I get Swedish threads because I have the keyboard on my phone. But I’m grateful to be able to see a glimpse of what’s going on because my brother never tells us.

You know it’s gotten weird when you’re on the same page as Ted Cruz and Karl Rove.

Alt National Park Service@altnps.bsky.social

They’re even turning on their own. Texas Republican Ted Cruz slammed FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, calling his behavior “mafia-like” and warning that Carr’s threats to retaliate against media companies for their programming were “dangerous as hell.”

I keep typing words and then deleting them because none of them are sufficient to capture how utterly fucked up and unacceptable this is. And yet it won't move a single Republican to give a damn.

The president of the United States just declared war, actual military war, not a metaphorical one, on a major American city, and one governed by his political opponents. In any other period, this would be impeachment-worthy.

Has anyone ever gone through a business rebranding? I worked in marketing when a small nonprofit did. Less than 10 staff, small website. It was a whole nightmare for over a year. Changing the name of even a small business is a huge undertaking. I can’t imagine what a nightmare this would be.

NPR@npr.org

The change would return the department to a name that it carried for much of its history, until it became the Department of Defense in the wake of World War II.

There are some fascinating documentaries about the theft of art that happened in wwii. It’s interesting to me that we’re seeing systemic destruction of the arts again, but this time without the pillaging. Maybe it won’t happen. Maybe it hasn’t happened yet. Maybe we just haven’t heard about it.

This post is unavailable.

Hello. For those of you who are unfamiliar with my career, you might like to know that I have 20 years of arts nonprofit administration experience. And that is the thing I have the least experience in. The reasonable* maximum is 30 years of experience with photography. I know my shit, thx ☺️

I have never shared video of a Black person being assaulted like this before. It’s traumatizing to watch. But it’s important to note that this is 🧊. Not police. Not the national guard. The police, who are supposed to serve and protect, stand by and watch as 🧊 bodies this man.

LongTime🤓FirstTime👨‍💻@longtimehistory.bsky.social

ICE body slams man's head hard into pavement—for eating crabs in public. Agents shove him into ground with arms twisted behind his back—bleeding severely from his forehead. "My head! You're breaking my arm!" he cries out. "Why are you doing this? I was just eating crabs!" Washington, D.C.

🧊 agents cosplay as police making it difficult to tell them apart. Despite their police protection, they cover their faces and hide their names because they know what they’re doing is amoral and unjust. We will not know who they are when they snatch us off the streets.

They did it. They pulled it off. The Naked Gun is easily one of my favorite films of the year. It just machine-guns jokes in a way that I missed so much. It is stupid. It is nonsense. It broke me and remade me. I'm a better man for having witnessed this movie. Go see it in a theater with a crowd.

Still looking for more stable housing for my niece. Any tips are appreciated

Amanda Chestnut@blkamanda.bsky.social

Do I leave anyone who has a rental apartment available? My niece is looking for a spot. 14607 or close to it (she works on Monroe). $900 or less (yeah, I know, I’m encouraging her about a second job). August move in, ideally.
