#BluePitHype I wrote a thesis project on The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon: the way she crafts fantasy into impermeable worlds that necessitate our crossing feels fundamentally queer to me. This potential of fantasy's queerness always inspires me towards my next book!

While I was writing Trapped in Amber, I listened to Ludovico Einaudi on repeat; the Southern Gothic novel I’m currently writing has a long list of blues as its soundtrack. #BluePitHype

A deep desire to express myself. I started in art before I discovered the written word for me. And when it comes to plots and characters, the inspiration always came from midnight walks with my dog.

I've been writing since I was so young that what first inspired me is hard to say, but I've realized the stuff that sparks the act of writing is often not what inspires the characters or plot. So Chainsaw Man sparked Archwitch, the book I'm querying, even though the final product is more like FMA.

Inspiration for me can come from a mix of stories some brilliant and some dog shit. To at least highlight the brilliant here: Stephen Graham Jones, Anne Rice, Shirley Jackson, Silvia Moreno-Garcia, Alix E Harrow to name a few. The gothic, the weird, and the unexpected have always drawn my attention.
