Another lovely day in Liverpool. Revisiting my childhood in Aigburth and Sefton Park then a wonderful concert by the RLPO at Philharmonic Hall where we had the privilege of seeing Mariam Batsashvili doing Saint Saens Piano Concerto No2. And Debussy’s La Mer and Ravel’s Bolero in the 2nd half.😍
Well what a lovely evening in Liverpool that was. Apéritifs at Petit Cafe du Coin then Mexican food at La Parilla on Bold St and a cocktail at Spanish Caravan on the way back to our holiday let. Liverpool more lively on a Wednesday than Lancaster on a Saturday!
Spending a couple of days in Liverpool so we can see the Philharmonic tomorrow night. Braved the comically bad weather today to do a tour of the Old Dock - a tiny corner of which can be seen under Liverpool One. Liverpool’s first wet dock built 1710ish. Amazing.
And also help needed!
Can you record a short video of yourself saying the name of one of 397 poor men from York who went to WWI?
The School Roll of Honour they are named on has recently been restored, and we would like to remember each of them:

I've just emailed a pdf to work saying "thoughts on the enclosed pdf?" Except it autocorrected pdf to puffin and now I'm imagining really disappointed colleagues.
Funny how the commentary team have been able to hear the Kop any time it makes any noise about Guilty of 114 Charges FC players being cheats, but they all go deaf when there’s been repeated tragedy chanting.
Ugh - after a week of having to go into office daily again and an afternoon in crowds at music festival I now have a cold. No good comes from being around people I tell you! 🤧🤧🤧
2027 calendars are now available to preorder. Sales haven't been great this year so any reposts much appreciated!

Marvin stared at the painting of his great grandfather, who had survived two wars, worked three jobs to support his fourteen children, and eventually died saving a box full of kittens from a fire, and thought to himself, "You know, if I knocked that over, I could sleep on it."
I’ve had to come away from the previous gig due to abject see you next Tuesdays. So here I am in Storey Gardens for an Irish folk band which is much more the ticket!
Isn’t it awful when you come out for a chat and someone holds a music festival around you? There are 3 fucking sections to this pub. Guess where the loud talkers have sat? 🙄
It’s music festival weekend in Lancaster so everywhere is rammed. Chose my lunch spot on the basis there was someone playing guitar & Spanish lute. Lovely I thought. Reader, I was wrong. 😬
Bathroom fitter has different apprentice with him today who has just had to be inducted into the mysteries of my odd shaped house. Lots of explanations of angles and where they will have to square off!!
Man City fans thinking they can spot flaws in a decision made by three senior lawyers is the new Dads think they could win a game against Serena Williams.
Went for my flu jab (I get a free one due to an underlying health condition) at the surgery. They were running a special clinic so very high throughput. I did bring the average age in the waiting room down quite substantially though!! 😅
Today I am in 19th century Birmingham and researching the Library fire of 1879. I am learning a lot about 19th C disaster preparedness. However what everyone* wants to know is what was the “unpleasantness” which caused the resignation of the Librarian and which he promised would not be repeated?
The ability to pour hundreds of millions of pounds into a loss-making TV channel, bent on wrenching British politics sharply to the right, is yet another of the ways in which extreme wealth is trying to remake UK democracy.
It needs to be part of any serious conversation about political funding.
A long few days at work with a somewhat late finish at the office tonight plus train journey home so took myself out for my tea and had an epic chicken pie!
