Well, months of hard work by several work colleagues has resulted in us launching a pilot site some weeks later than planned and which is still full of errors. Seems nobody checked until, er, day of launch. Nobody seems bothered though, as “nobody will see the site until we start emailing about it”.

Not sure what’s worse about that Marissa Mayer article, the idea that she is genuinely so awful that she has to use AI to know nice things about her own daughter, or that she possibly isn’t quite that awful but just said it to promote her AI tool, which still makes her awful.

What’s worse about Mayer’s AI is that it’s marketed at “busy women”. Her research says women use AI less than men and are being “left out”. Er no, I suspect the reason is men are lazier and less competent than women and use AI for dodgier purposes, and women know their own children better.

In his acceptance speech, Lula says he will work to regulate digital platforms in Brazil. “Digital crimes must be dealt with like real-life crimes.” This comes after Meta directly interfered with the Brazilian elections, favouring Flávio Bolsonaro.

In one day, two politicians - Bolsonaro in Brazil and Vucic in Serbia - with ties to Trump have lost surprise elections thanks to high turnout. The rise of the international far-right is not inevitable.

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

“Prime minister, people have no money, everything’s expensive, their jobs are at risk from AI, data centres taking over, fascism’s running rife, we’ve told them to stockpile for war, what would be a good way to cheer up the nation?” “Change the clocks so it’s dark at 5pm?” “GENIUS”

David Tennant should be the new James Bond but he should also be the new James Bond villain who has had cosmetic surgery to look exactly like James Bond and then the real James Bond and the villain James Bond face off and nobody knows which one is which, including James Bond.

Spent some time in Lidl comparing the calorific values of the baked goods. The lowest is a plain croissant (300), the highest a chocolate cronut (500). Couldn’t justify anything on account of the diet, but, rainy day, weekend etc so ended up buying a flapjack. That’s healthy, right? Er, 437 kcal.

Miatta can clearly see right from wrong but she's rowed into line twice with a Labour government siding with Shell and Donald Trump on climate vandalism, and into line now on cruel immigration reforms. What is the point of Labour if they can't even do the basics to protect people and the planet?

Currently wondering what message the UK govt thought it was sending by dressing up the Minister for Net Zero in a literal Shell logo.

drilling for more gas then telling us to stockpile because of the climate crisis is like digging a deeper and deeper hole because you know a guy who sells long ladders

Cost of living goes up and up, wages stagnant, jobs at risk, students laden with debt, public services getting worse and charging more, miscellaneous fascism, climate crisis, keep 9 litres of water in your house, BUT don’t worry, the lights will stay on over winter. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Reports of US voter machine f*ckery are rife. But I thought in the US you had to be registered as either a republican or a democrat. If that’s the case why do they even need people to go out and vote? Assuming people only vote for their tribe why not just do the count by registrations?

1. Fire the Home Secretary 2. Abolish the Home Office 3. Salt the earth upon which both of them stood

Desperate stuff Home Secretary originally argued (very misleadingly) care workers shouldn't be allowed to settle because their wages were so low that they'd be a fiscal cost. Now she's arguing they shouldn't be allowed to settle because they'd get better paid jobs www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...

You mean, aside from America actively promoting the racist far right across Europe and launching an idiotic war that has jacked up the price of everything

The shop I live above took in a parcel for me, which was a box of Who Gives a Crap comedy Halloween toilet rolls. By way of thanks I gave a roll to the guy in the shop, told them about the brand etc. On my way out I said cheerily “Have fun!” Which I then realised sounded kind of wrong.

We all know the "Viggo broke his toe" story but what's another movie fact you're personally compelled to bring up every time without prompting? For me, it's the fact that Robin Tunney is wearing a wig in The Craft because of having just shaved her head to save her job filming Empire Records.

It’s come to something when a photographer has to get legal advice, before displaying this photo in an exhibition, due to the risk of being prosecuted as a terrorist, but that’s exactly what I had to do yesterday. What a state this country is in.

The news is pretty good at the moment because it's 'The AI companies are trying to kill us all' and 'no one can afford to be alive anymore' and 'we have created a society built to appease the greed of the few at the detriment of the many' and then ask 'why are the young people rioting'.
