As expected, the Godzilla El Niño is increasing outgoing longwave radiation as the planet heats up, temporarily reducing the Earth Energy Imbalance. In other words, over the past 12 months the Earth has been heating at an average rate of about 1.15 million Hiroshimas per Day.

Last month renewable energy generated more electricity in the national grid than fossil fuels.  It's only the second time in Australian history that this has occurred, the first being last year.  We've come a long way, and there's a lot more to do.

Records come and records go. But this is one for the ages. The preliminary Nino 3.4 sea-surface temperature anomaly is now at a record 3.23°C above the 1991-2020 baseline. This crushes the previous daily record set in 1982 by over 1.14°C. The Climate 8-ball is looking up.
