This is absolutely horrible! A nonverbal student with special needs was walking to Santa Maria High School when ICE agents tackled him, restrained him, and left him with a broken wrist requiring surgery, according to witnesses and school officials.

A truck driver working 40-hour weeks to make $50,000 a year pays about $3,800 in federal income tax. An 8% rate. An investor earning the same $50,000 in long-term capital gains pays $0. Work gets punished. Wealth gets rewarded. This tax code is a scam.

Uber just announced it will lay off 10% of its workforce, or around 3,300 workers. Last year, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi made $35M — 360 times his median employee's pay — and announced a $20B stock buyback program to further enrich shareholders and himself. Textbook corporate greed.

Before Grants Pass, Martin v. Boise set a floor: a city could not punish sleeping outside when it had no shelter beds. The June 28 2024 ruling removed that floor nationwide. A city may now fine and jail people for sleeping outdoors even when every shelter bed is full.
