No single survey mode reliably reaches most target populations anymore. Ipek Bilgen explains how mixed-mode design makes participation more convenient, which is often the difference between a sample that represents the population and one that doesn’t. Read the full Expert View: go.norc.org/4ieZ1cl

So there's no QB problem at Michigan. Anything but, actually. Bryce Underwood and Tommy Carr are both talented enough to win with. The maturity Underwood's shown after sitting down is some of the best I've ever seen from a QB his age. They need to be coached better. Whole offense does.

Evil is an understatement. And, must be nice to surpass any kind of IRB or ethics review to push any kind of study like this forward. Props to the law enforcement in Guinea-Bissau for enforcing reality with these clowns. We cannot remove these bad actors from leadership positions soon enough.

Stop. Just stop.

AAPOR has released a new statement strongly condemning the fabrication of polling data following reports that another organization produced and distributed fake poll results under the guise of an experiment on data integrity and accountability. Read the statement: aapor.org?p=8490

“The culmination of my life’s work may have been targeted by an AI-assisted censorship tool & terminated by a politically-motivated AI hallucination” If you care in any way about science, you need to read this thread from my friend Kelton Minor.

Together with other scientists I’m suing the 🇺🇸 US National Institutes of Health for violating our 1st Amendment rights & censoring our health science. I’m ready to shine a light on the darkest days. Buckle up, read on. This gets pretty wild… THREAD

Beck actually needs to be fired after this game. Like I know it’s stupid and symbolic but you have to do it. This is the worst offense I’ve ever seen

Editor rant: I’m seeing increasing prevalence of a very irritating behavior in peer review. Individuals provide excellent comments on an initial submission, agree to review a revision, and then turn down the invitation to review the revision. This is absurd, and defeats the purpose. What gives? 🤬

There was nothing like visiting New Zealand and seeing this wonderful creatures in-person. Amazing. If it isn't on your bucket list, add it.

I'm thrilled to share my first foray into nature writing. I describe my travels through Aotearoa New Zealand to see the country's rarest birds—and use this as a vehicle to tell the stories of the islands' evolutionary history and the bold conservation efforts that saved these creatures. Gift link

Can someone please put Thursday Night Football games out of their misery? Just an awful product week after week. Nothing but bad football and injuries. Anyone awake at the shield?

@cjzero.bsky.social any chance you can grab the Bowling Green kicker/punter celebration after made FG? Replayed going into first halftime break on ESPN+. It's good.

Like…really? Try and comprehend the amount of busywork nationwide that this, uh, whatever the F you want to call it, just introduced. In every sector. That last proposal you wrote where you mentioned AI 149 times? Nope. That website you just built talking about your company’s new AI tools? Nope. 🤬

Solid thread.

Ok, Michigan rant. Go ahead and put in the paper that I am mad. This is not a low talent O. They have 2 All-B1G caliber WRs. A draftable RB and a back up that while young has clear athletic ability/ talent. An OL that even with injuries probably has more talent than LY and is pass protecting better

42 And that’s being generous. Baffling how ill-prepared, idiotic, and equal parts non-chalant that team was today, players and coaches alike. Especially on the offensive side of the ball. What on earth was that? The game almost seemed thrown. That $40M is going to dry up reeeeaaaaallll fast.

Interesting…

Yesterday’s 20-19 loss to Iowa checks in at #4 among Michigan’s unlikeliest losses since 2010. Michigan had an 82.8% postgame win expectancy despite coming away with the loss. Here are all 11 games where Michigan lost with a win expectancy above 50%:

Just way too many absurd mental gaffes from this team so far. Really disappointed that Whittingham hasn’t had a bigger impact in that area, but at some point players have to wake up.
