The Venn diagram of people who will nod at the words "you have to spend money to make money", people who think Donal Murphy is making a good point and people who cannot see the contradiction between the two is a circle.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this is probably related to chronic understaffing in the HSE...

If one of the most toxic employers on the planet is touting AI as having a potential boon to worker conditions, you can only read it as an act of desperation from a man who has sank too much money into a bubble that is about to pop and desperately wants to push the inevitably off a few more months.

Is anyone keeping track of how much we're spending on all these groups for keeping track of how much we're spending?

Minister announces new public spending efficiency taskforce to "extensively scrutinise day-to-day public spending". It will identify areas across public spending where there is scope for more efficiency, and recommend actions that can deliver better services and greater value for money.

The Taoiseach has said that including services in the Occupied Territories Bill is "not implementable". The text of the legislation was passed by Cabinet this morning and it is set be enacted within weeks.

Organisations which also want to remain trans-inclusive need to receive support on how to do so within the law. In a similar way, those that wish to exclude trans men and women from their spaces also need to know how to do so without breaching individual rights to privacy. (6/7)

The Stephens Green redevelopment is just another in a long list of developers attempts to ruin the city, and it demonstrates a need for greater public oversight in the planning process. There's something broken with the management of the city when things that make it unique are cast aside so easily.

I am convinced the number of times car alarms have prevented theft is infinitesimally smaller than the number of times they've been set off for no reason. If it was even 100:1 I would be shocked.

Ballroom Grift. By all accounts, super lax security at last night's WHCD, gunman gets in, gets neutralized, Felonious Pedolf calls a presser to push his ballroom grift, and BOOM, right wing Twitter immediately goes to work in chorus. What a crock of shit

Having had to walk by these protests to get to work, we shouldn't touch them with a ten-foot bargepole. I'll just say I was unsurprised when I heard there was an incident with people related to the protest abusing the MSoE and leave it at that.

As ICE apprehends more children every day, it raises a simple question that’s also one of grave moral concern: What does detention do to a child’s health? "I see a regression of developmental milestones. They don’t want to eat. They have problems sleeping. They wake up screaming,” one doctor said.

“My views on Kneecap are very well known in relation to what they stand for and what they say, which is completely intolerable," Starmer said. jrnl.ie/6983367

That a vast swathe of our commentariat feel emboldened to complain about our President having called out war crimes as war crimes is a sign of social and moral decay. Too many have bought into the idea that pragmatism is the same as being callow and callous.

Merz joining Trump's attacks on Spain typifies Germany's attitude to the EU. They prioritise their own short term interests over the integrity of the EU. We need to deepen our ties with Spain and form a bloc to be a counterweight to german power within the EU before their stupidity tears it apart.

I honestly think taxing the super-rich out of existence is for their own good. That amount of money seems to do something deeply unpleasant to human brains.

A German court has ruled that it is legal to state that the man who runs the Müller (Rice) empire is a supporter of the far-right AfD. Müller repeatedly denied it, which says everything about how bad he knew that association could be for his business. I hope the boycotts intensify.

Don’t think enough attention has been paid, imho, to the President and Secretary of State being publicly at odds for the justification of a regime-change war in the Middle East

Anyone who thinks positive regime change is possible in Iran should remember the US-Israel axis replaced Bashar al-Assad with an Islamic State remnant in Syria.

Interesting to see what the current EU regime will do. Do they prioritise their neo-colonial ambitions or protect the integrity of the union by backing up an uncooperative member state. One of their greatest foreign policy goals is now completely at odds with the continued existence of the union.

I'm not surprised, but I'm still disgusted by the eagerness of western powers to repeat the Iraq War with Iran knowing exactly what happened last time, and knowing it will be far worse this time if the US and Israel are allowed to continue to escalate.

Those who fail turn learn from history (Israelis attacking French fans in the Stade de France a little over a year ago) are doomed to repeat it.

It's one of the greatest failings of the age that extreme incompetence is generally accepted as a decent defence from the people running the world. "I didn't know what the lads cooking the burgers were up to" would get an assistant manager fired from McDonalds, but it's fine for world leaders.
