The NYT continues its sourcing problems, where they use political operatives as 'everyday people'. This is as much an editing and fact-checking error as a reporting one. One must ask why is it always GOP operatives-as-everyday people... Me, from 2020: medianut.substack.com/p/on-sourcin...

Tim Carvell@timcarvell.bsky.social

From that same NYT "Moms for Liberty" article, how does this keep happening to them.

have they ever fucked up in the opposite direction, quoting some guy they say is a rando but is actually a dem operative? why is it always republicans?

Kevin M. Kruse@kevinmkruse.bsky.social

There are only two explanations for the NYT's habit of presenting GOP operatives and donors as true swing voters: 1. Their reporters and editors are somehow incapable of running a simple Google searches, showing just a staggering level of journalistic incompetence 2. They want to the GOP to win

This report is genuinely overwhelming, in terms of the evidence both against Trump and of a ham-fisted cover-up. Including one instance in which Ghislaine Maxwell was actually about to mention one of Trump's young accusers and Todd Blanche told her to stop talking. The media response is "yawn."

Astonishing: Maxwell was willing to tell Blanche about some of Trump's rapes, and he ordered her not to. "Let's not talk about inviduals." WTF were they there to talk about? There's EVIDENCE on this.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver did a great episode last night highlighting the extremism and at most generous Nazi-adjacent members of the Republican Party, many of whom are up for election on November 3. Please take some time to watch it and send it to others. 💙

Here’s last night’s story about the rising prominence of extremist beliefs within the Republican Party, what it has to do with the upcoming elections, and why being 31 years old is one of the least cute ages you can possibly be. https://youtu.be/SnsBI4YxwIs

I don't know that there is a definitive line to cross that makes you say, "I live in a police state now" but when masked gunmen can routinely brutalize the public, citizen or immigrant alike, with impunity, you have reached that point.
