The small handful of Democrats running anti-trans ads should be embarrassed now and will be embarrassed in time. I've been saying it and still think it — www.lawdork.com/p/dangerous-... — and people who compromise in this way will change or won't be leaders, even if they are in office.

Lot of comments on this slamming the writer for "legitimizing" AI slop by reviewing it, but just one of those points I fundamentally disagree on! A critic should absolutely be engaging with garbage and articulating what makes it garbage!

Jeremy Lewin killed hundreds of thousands without a signed employment agreement.

WIRED@wired.com

Despite the agency's human resources department saying he hadn’t even been onboarded, Jeremy Lewin oversaw the destruction of USAID. It’s not clear he had the legal authority to do so.

For the nonlawyers: This is an accurate description of the DOJ's position. Legally, as they frame it, it is an "Air Bud" argument - new, but no rule against it. It's simultaneously bananapants clownshoes crazy and morally reprehensible.

Owen Barcala@obarcala.bsky.social

So if you're following, DOJ's theory here is they can file an initial complaint with probable cause based on incorrect facts, then file a superseding complaint that removes those facts and proceed without probable cause. Novel indeed.

There's so much else wrong with this stupid lawsuit but on this specific point: despite being "busy" with "lives" and "jobs," Alaskans were able to spell M-U-R-K-O-W-S-K-I when they reelected her to the Senate as a write-in candidate in 2010 after she lost the GOP primary.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Q: Why shouldn't Alaskans find it insulting that the administration is suggesting they can't read the word 'incumbent' on their ballot and know to vote for Sen. Sullivan? JD VANCE: People are busy. People have lives. People have jobs.

What the hell is happening at Microsoft?

Dare Obasanjo@carnage4life.bsky.social

Earlier this year, Microsoft offered voluntary retirement to 8,750 employees. About 2,625 (30%) accepted. It then laid off another 4,800 employees in July, followed by hundreds more in September. Now Microsoft is offering buyouts to 60,000 employees or 27% of its workforce. More layoffs to follow?
