Feeling angered at the state of the world? Want a productive outlet for your frustrations? Are you willing to put in the hard work to try and midwife the birth of a new world from the dying husk of the old? Are you OK with a lot of Zoom meetings? Join DSA! act.dsausa.org/s/5302.lodxQ5

act.dsausa.orgJoin DSA. Become a member today.Democratic socialists have an historic opportunity and responsibility to play a central role in continuing the political revolution for the long term. As a democratic, grassroots organization, DSA is ...

Our constitution is absolutely not flexible enough to get us out of this. It was a horrible compromise with slaveowning states when it was drafted and its political institutions were designed explicitly with the intent of preventing popular democratic government.

Matt Calcara@mattcalcara.bsky.social

It's a major win if you're hoping for a revolution, sure. But as a student of history, I'm pretty convinced that most revolutions are not great for the folks who live through them. Our Constitution is flexible enough that we can make the changes we need without resorting to a revolution.

All of the modern things that we have been relying on to safeguard our liberties, the Reconstruction amendments, the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act, etc. are all proving to be extremely fragile in the face of a governmental and judicial structure designed to concentrate power

in the hands of right-wing moneyed interests. This is why the DSA program explicitly calls for the drafting of a new constitution with drastic changes to the setup of government to give us actually democratic institutions that can actually be used to transfer power to the working masses.

This may genuinely be one of the funniest things I have ever read. Even beyond the ramblimg old person cadence amd making fun of Bill Maher and so many fantastic Trump lines, just the knowledge that when historians have to explain this period that this is an artifact they will have to consider.

W.E.D.em Boyz@leftistwonk.bsky.social

Donald Trump shows his great etiquette by going on 1300-word unhinged Truth Social rant against Bill Maher

Like, the man who is presiding over a domestic ethnic cleansing operation and the killing of fishermen in the Caribbean, and the continued genocide of Palestine, and the illegal war on Iran, is a senile queen who wines about TV ratings.

I imagine it is hard for any publication to be explicit about what should happen to people like this, but it isn't hard for me. This man is an active participating nazi. He is carrying out a campaign of ethnic cleansing that has already destroyed his town. He and all like him have to be punished.

ProPublica@propublica.org

NEW: Ingram, Texas, was just rebuilding from a devastating flood when its tiny police department enrolled in ICE’s 287(g) deportation program. Within a year, cops would hand over the equivalent of 10% of the town. with @nytimes.com

His "guilty conscience" and "demonstrations of humanity" for letting a few people go now and again are utterly meaningless. He must be treated by the courts, by the political system, and by actual human beings everywhere as an active threat to civil society, and should be expunged from it.

For anyone who hasn't played it, do yourself a favor and spend a nice relaxing weekend or two with this game, it's a true work of art.

Joe Stanley@joestanley.org

I like how TUNIC brought back some of the play of the manual, but it is still in the game itself. I remember the old days, where when you couldn’t play the game you could take the instructions with you and leaf through, imagining the world and its possibilities for when you returned to the console.

This is a victim of a modern concentration camp that the government of the United States is proudly running.

“A 79-year-old CO pastor who lost 35 pounds and the strength to walk after 13 months in immigration detention has been released by order of a federal magistrate judge. The government ignored requests for a wheelchair. Instead, 3 other detainees carried Rev. Edward Nalwamba to a waiting vehicle.”

How are these freaks going to keep up this charade when every single day it seems like the FCC hands another media company to some right wing billionaire Epstein associated lizard?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Mike Johnson offers a conspiracy theory to explain away his party's dire polling: "I believe there's a concerted effort between Democrats and the mainstream media that's openly biased in their favor to discourage the Republican side"

I genuinely hope someone has been keeping a comprehensive list of all the public admission of crimes, because I have long since been able to keep up with all of them.

Booklegger Used Books in Huntsville still has its floor-to-ceiling wooden bookshelves filled with vintage and hard-to-find used books, but it now has a modern refresh thanks to the new owners, Roxy Whitney and Jayne Busack.

It is very bad that the terms of service of every website prevent people from saying what should happen to these disgusting subhuman nazi freaks. Any American government that doesn't put its full weight behind stopping them all by force and punishing them to the utmost isn't worth my time.

Masked Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian villagers on Friday, setting olive groves on fire and slinging rocks. Caught in the attack was Post photographer Heidi Levine. “They just kept kicking me and kicking me, like probably 50 times,” Levine said. https://wapo.st/4yt6dHY

Tommy Tuberville has been running YouTube ads and sending out flyers whose entire campaign message is "I'll lower your taxes". No culture war bullshit, no references to Trump at all. And every local Republican seems to be doing the same shtick! It's so Joever.

As a reminder, here are the Democratic members of the House and Senate who not only voted yea for the Laken Riley Act, but voted yea for an amendment that made it even worse.

Ex-boss filed a $12 theft charge against an ex-employee because she got a restraining order in response to his creepy behavior. Charge was never prosecuted, but it gave ICE an excuse to arrest and detain her. Congratulations to the 58 Democrats who voted for the Laken Riley Act. You own this.

It really does have shades of how the early modern feudal nobles ended up destroying the old political order of Europe even as they were desperately trying to save it. But even stupider.

Olúfẹ́mi O. Táíwò@olufemiotaiwo.bsky.social

if Trump does manage to catalyze the destruction of fossil capital (politically speaking) the Marxist histories of this era written 40 years from now are going to be magnificent

Things I learnt after meeting Palestinians/Settlers in the West Bank today, I believe it radicalised me even more. 1. There's a total seperation between Israelis and Palestinians, in roads, checkpoints, infrastructure, income, EVERYTHING. It's systematically an Apartheid system. It's so bad that

This fucking disgusting Hawaiian shirt and cargo shorts-ass freak deserves to suffer unimaginable punishment and any politician who doesn't agree is insufficient to the moment.

Mother Jones@motherjones.com

To "revel in the death of those who truly deserve it...is normal, good, and aligned with our natural and national order," Anduril co-founder Palmer Luckey wrote on X.

A Contributing Editor at Liberal Currents doesn't think people should be criticizing a politician for giving millions of dollars in taxpayer money to right-wing Zionist organizations in violation of both his stated principles and his campaign promises.

Wynn's Law remains undefeated.

This man has a law degree from Yale. There is no chance that he is this stupid. He is a cynical operator who sold his soul for power and is willingly debasing himself to please his senile nazi pedophile boss and his idiot followers.

Q: How do you define socialism personally? JD VANCE: I think in reality what it actually means in the American context is you want to replace American workers with foreigners workers, and you want boys to play in girls' sports

The 'pro-free speech' right wing is literally dictating what words professors are and are not allowed to say.

Alabama Makes State Workers Say ‘Gulf of America.’ Colleges Aren’t Spared. Republican lawmakers say faculty can only call it the Gulf of Mexico for “historical purposes” in academic courses. Journalists are constrained by the restriction, too. https://bit.ly/4rTEVJg #EDUSky #AcademicSky

I mean this is as close to literal treason as it's ever gotten, and still there is no political will to punish him.

The people of the resitance would have been fully justified in utilizing the most extreme force to repel these invaders.

🚨 All eyes on the border wall blockade at Camp O:ṣhad in Lochiel, Ariz. This morning, over 50 Border Patrol / BORTAC agents raided the resistance camp, entering private property without a warrant, attacking land defenders & deploying a cherry-picker to extract the tree sitter.

Look, I don't know what lesson we are supposed to take from this except that Joseph Stalin's suggestion for what to do with the Nazis after WWII was completely correct.

Stupidity of this question aside, moral idiots like this never seem to want to reckon with the downstream situation where they vote for their lesser evil option and are therefore responsible for 70k deaths. Does the other alternative somehow absolve you of this? Should the 70k guy be prosecuted?

I grew up in Polk County and that disgusting right-wing chud pig Grady Judd has been the sheriff at least since I was in high school. None of this surprises me, but it does deepen my hatred for that place.
