Our election-night simulator paints independents green now. Here Bodnar wins Montana's Senate seat (about 1 in 18 draws go that way) and an independent takes Alaska's House seat. How many draws until you get a green Montana? One simulated night, not a forecast. callthemap.com/draw

Give Andrews a 10-point win over Graham in South Carolina and Democrats take the Senate in 91 of 100 matching simulations. At 1.5 points it's 78. The forecast as published says 56. An upset there wouldn't come alone, and the Scenario Machine now moves the other races with it. 📊 #SCPol

I've got the same complaint from inside the model. Three Mississippi Senate polls all cycle, averaging Hyde-Smith +3.9. Her 85 in 100 is mostly the state's lean; the polls pull it about 3 points toward Colom. The president visits today. Somebody field a poll. callthemap.com/senate/mississippi

Genuinely annoying we haven’t gotten a single poll from a quality pollster on this race the entire cycle

Asked our forecast for one random election night and got Democrats 51-49 in the Senate and 229-206 in the House, with 42 seats changing hands. That exact pair comes up 5 times in 2,000. One simulated night, not a forecast. Draw your own and post the weirdest one you get: callthemap.com/draw

I put the smaller election-data accounts I've learned the most from this month into one starter pack. County early-vote counters, people running homemade forecasts, a couple of poll sleuths. Most of them deserve a lot more followers than they have, so go say hi.

Biggest moves in our House forecast since yesterday, all from three new DCCC polls: Ohio's 10th: Knickerbocker 10 → 26 in 100 against Turner Texas's 28th: Cuellar 81 → 98 Florida's 7th: Dalton 25 → 33 We count a party's own polls at a quarter of their weight.

Correction to my last line: in House races the model counts a poll paid for by a party or campaign at full weight and moves its margin 2 points against that party. The quarter weight is how it treats them in Senate races. Each race page spells out the step, e.g. callthemap.com/house/oh-10

Update: our page now reads Saturday's Texas total as 4,160,466, from the Secretary of State's Oct 25 file, up from the 4,078,316 above. Most of the difference is Harris County, now 574,245. That makes Saturday about 436,000 ballots on its own.

First on our list of the Senate races that most often decide control: Minnesota. Flanagan is at 65 in 100 against Michele Tafoya. On the nights she wins, Democrats take the Senate 73 times in 100. On the nights she loses, 23.

North Carolina's early vote is running 38% ahead of the same point in 2022. About 924,000 ballots were in through Oct 20, by the state board's file. #ncpol

Georgia is past a million early votes: 1,026,997 through Oct 19, by civicAPI's count of the state's data. On that ballot, Ossoff is at 92 in 100 in our forecast. The governor's race is much closer: Rick Jackson 62, Keisha Lance Bottoms 38. #gapol

Before this poll came out, our House forecast had Democrats at 82 in 100, with about 233 seats expected.

"Eleven is a big number. No party has won the national vote by such a large margin since the Democrats did so in 2008." www.nytimes.com/2026/10/21/u...

Correction: Wedgewood Polls says the numbers it published were fabricated. We've removed all its polls from our forecast and site, and deleted two posts that cited its Mississippi Senate poll. Without it, Colom is at 11 in 100 and Hyde-Smith leads our polling average by 5.6. callthemap.com/changelog

The governor races closest to even in our forecast tonight: Oregon (Drazan 52 in 100), Ohio (Acton 56), Georgia (Jackson 62) and Wisconsin (Crowley 62).

Our House forecast lands close to this: 82 in 100 for Democrats, 233.5 seats expected.

DDHQ FORECAST UPDATE (10/20): House FL-22: Leans Republican -> Toss Up GA-7: Safe Republican - > Likely Republican Democrats have a 77% probability of winning control of the House, and have a lead in 235 districts. Ten seats are currently forecasted as Toss Ups.

Statewide, Texas logged about 523,000 in-person votes on day one, per the Secretary of State's county file. Harris alone was about a fifth of that.

Houston Public Media@houstonpublicmedia.bsky.social

More than 100,000 people cast an in-person ballot during the first day of early voting in Harris County on Monday, beating the previous record of 63,188 set in 2018.

Two weeks out, our forecast: Senate: Democrats 56 in 100 House: Democrats 82 in 100, about 233 seats expected Closest Senate races: Alaska (Peltola 50 in 100), Maine (Jackson 54), Texas (Talarico 54), Iowa (Hinson 59) callthemap.com
