Did slashing multiple vaccines from the childhood vaccine schedule bring the US in line with other countries? In a word, no. The US now recommends all kids be protected against fewer diseases than South Korea, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan & many more. www.statnews.com/2026/01/09/c...

We are a rogue state, run by a dictator, and the international community should treat us as such including all appropriate economic and diplomatic sanctions

If we're not at war, Pete Hegseth is a murderer. If we are at war, Pete Hegseth is still a murderer. He's a murderer. And you don't need to go to The Hague to hold him accountable because there are perfectly good, American laws AGAINST MURDER. My latest in @thenation.com

thenation.comPete Hegseth Should Be Charged With MurderNo matter how you look at the strikes on alleged “drug boats”—as acts of war or attacks on civilians—Hegseth has committed a crime and should be prosecuted.

First Trump blackmailed universities into suppressing free speech. Now he’s bribing them with taxpayer dollars to enforce his agenda. Corruption and authoritarianism, plain and simple. No university should cave to this blatantly unconstitutional coercion.

As of this afternoon, not a single career DOJ attorney has entered an appearance in the case against former FBI Director James Comey. Only the newly-appointed U.S. attorney is listed. That's extremely unusual.

Pritzker: This is not about fighting crime. This is about the President and his complicit lackey, Stephen Miller, searching for ways to lay the groundwork to circumvent our democracy, militarize our cities, and end elections.

In any event, I did actually write about tariffs this week, from a LEGAL perspective. The tariffs were unconstitutional, then they weren't, but they will be again, until it gets to the Supreme Court. It's confusing but I explain it in @thenation.com www.thenation.com/article/soci...

thenation.comWhat the Hell Do This Week’s Whiplash Tariff Rulings Actually Mean? While the courts continue to debate the legality of Trump’s sweeping tariffs, the law remains clear: They are unconstitutional.

No sign of Jake Tapper’s new book at my local independent bookstore but it did have several cute board books about cats for my granddaughter. (Also spotted: Bad Law by Elie Mystal and Becoming by Michele Obama.)

I’m in my 70’s and I recently caught Covid. Being fully vaccinated my case was so mild my doctor didn’t even think I needed Paxlovid. Sounds like these fools are good to end the vax for good though.

Trump has been racking up some procedural "wins" at the Supreme Court and the answer for why is simple: John Roberts is a feckless coward. He's like a cop in Uvalde, cowering outside waiting for the shooting to stop, instead of doing his job. My latest in @thenation.com

“For the most part, both sides of the political divide have recognized the obvious value of American science to society and have broadly supported public investment in it. But this no longer appears to be the case”. We have fallen so far, so fast.

Four miles running barefoot on the beach. On the return trip I faced a constant 28mph + headwind. Slow is an understatement but at least I got it done.

First outdoor run since November. Also first post covid and the first since ditching my knee brace. Yes, I felt like I was going to die but my iwatch tells me my “near death” to me effort was only moderate. Not sure what to make of that.

Whatever. No sympathy. Everybody who voted for Trump voted for somebody to get hurt. Everybody who voted for him knew he’d do awful things to some people. They just didn’t think they’d be the “some people.”

About three weeks ago my aging 70+ year old knee was so painfully out of whack that at times I could scarcely walk on it. Today I ran 3 miles on the treadmill. Never give up!

My first day back at the gym since that grim day in January and the first song that randomly comes up on my playlist is “On the Eve of Destruction.” Yes, I do believe we are on the eve of destruction.

“All I can do is tell you that the order is unconstitutional, and racist, and obviously so. The people who support this order are wrong, and racist…This order violates one of the fundamental principles of the United States, and people should react to it like it does.”

I went through Trump's birthright citizenship EO, line-by-flagrantly-unconstitutional-line, to highlight the illegal, the racist, and the just plain incorrect understanding of the constitutional *right* to citizenship. My latest in @thenation.com www.thenation.com/article/poli...

Sergeant Gonell @sergeantaqgo.bsky.social sent me this picture. This is his call log. Each call is an automated Dept of "Justice" notification saying "The defendant you testified against is being released from the dept of corrections." Each defendant assaulted him.

So far Trump has issued a lawless order reinstating TikTok, pardoned 174 people who assaulted police officers, incorrectly identified the Gulf of Mexico, and the media is so scared they’re not showing the Shadow President’s Nazi salute. It’s not yet 9:00 on the east coast.
