Almost 72 hours after the vote, where are we? 1. The counting continues - brutal but true. Elections Alberta counted fast over night on the 19/20, but then seemed to slow right down. Almost like they thought they would be done after 12 hours. 2. "No" did great.

They basically got everything wrong for two days straight. 4. Volunteers and the right message did far better than government communications and lots of money. Alberta's voice spend $330,000 and we almost tied the Government, who spent $4.3 million.

Conclusion - this was a great referendum for the civically minded. It was a terrible referendum for Danielle Smith. And no one cares about the separatists.

We won 4 of the 9 questions straight up. And the entire number of "No" votes is virtually equal to the number of "Yes" votes across the nine questions (49% to 51%). 3. Pundits were horrible after the referendum. They didn't understand the count process. They didn't model the results.

"To watch the government present immigrants as the primary source of societal strain is both insulting and soul-crushing. More importantly, it is an empirical fraud designed to deflect from years of provincial underinvestment and poor planning."

@carterab.bsky.social Thank you. I listened to you on #CBC Eyeopener this morning. Your comments were spot on. I grew up in rural Alberta. We raised our kids in #yyc. I have family and friends who won't even talk about #NoToTheNine.

There seems to be a bit of misinformation circulating on social media about my latest @albertaviews.bsky.social column and what it actually says. So perhaps you’d like to read it for yourself and draw your own conclusions. (Feel free to share, it you are so moved.) #ableg #abpoli #Canada #cdnpoli

albertaviews.caAlberta's Referendum Questions - The Noxious Nine - Alberta ViewsNine disingenuous, malicious referendum questions, push-polls, designed to incite social division and undermine confidence in the country.

Sign pickups throughout Calgary this coming week. Already we have distributed 10,000 signs and we are on track for another 15,000. Thanks to all the volunteers!

We're in a trade war with Donald Trump. The Americans are using their enormous economic power to try to get their way with Canada. And Danielle Smith's answer is to make Canada weaker and Alberta more isolated? How exactly does that give us more sovereignty? Stay in Canada. No to the Nine.

I've never understood the argument that separating from Canada would make Alberta more independent. Especially now. With the United States openly using its economic power against Canada, leaving Canada would make Alberta more dependent on the Americans, not less. Stay in Canada. No to the Nine.
