USAID was paying for the removal of Vietnam-era land mines in Cambodia. When aid was frozen, China stepped in to fund the project. Cambodia is pushed closer to China and further from us. This is an example of the soft power and humanitarian benefits of USAID.

5 yrs ago on this very night I was in the hospital in a coma fighting for my life. My kids gathered around me preparing themselves to say goodbye, my prognosis was grim. From what they tell me as soon as all my kids came they were changing the breathing tube and I gasped for air and I’m still here ✌🏼
