A dachshund, you say? No, bain’t seen one of them round these parts for many a year. Me? Oh I’m just a bush lady doing my bush lady things like barking and that.

The face of a relentless squirrel chaser. I had to trick him into drinking water after his unsuccessful hunt.

(Not a video gamer but I want to play) What's your "origin" game? Most gamers have a lot of favorite games, sure, but there's always one that basically 𝘥𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴 you. I'm talking about the game that flipped that little switch in your brain and made into a life-long gamer. So, which game is 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨?

NEW: ProPublica’s @jessecoburn.bsky.social chronicled how a Texas artillery factory failed to produce a single usable shell. The fiasco ended up costing the Army half a billion dollars. Here are the lapses in planning and execution our reporting uncovered.

propublica.orgThe Costly Blunders in the Army’s $533 Million FiascoProPublica revealed how a rushed effort to arm Ukraine with artillery shells wasted half a billion dollars in taxpayer funding. Here are the biggest takeaways from that reporting.

Had a pretty mighty pop up storm; heavy rain and strong winds. Tore off one of my oak limbs. There’s a section of damaged fence, but at least it missed the car.

Maximum Odysseus!

The only good thing to come out of the dipshit Odyssey discourse is that at one point I commented “if we’re worried about accuracy, then Jason Mantzoukas should be playing Odysseus,” and now I can’t get it out of my head 😄

I want to take a moment and talk about what this means from my perspective as a quality professional. Probably the most important part of a QMS is the integrity of the people executing it.

A quick word on Taco Bell: That's where we found the suspected lettuce, and it's not bc Taco Bell is gross. It's bc Taco Bell is REALLY GOOD at tracing product! Keeping track of exactly where they got their ingredients, & exactly what restaurants each shipment of ingredients went to!

Here, Taco Bell recognized an escape to customer that impacted customer safety and immediately worked to contain the escape, even at a potential risk to their reputation. Their priorities are in order. Then, as detailed in the quoted post, they accelerated RCCA and found root cause.

Then they entered preventative action to shut down the problem going forward. Really impressive to me, especially having come out of an industry that propagated a problem so broad that the government had to ground an entire fleet of passenger aircraft.

Last year I got this misting sprinkler to fight the Midwest heat. The big dog wanted to fight it, the little dog wanted to avoid it. This year, though, they’re enjoying the gentle cooling mist.

Just finished “Bloodlines” by Chris Wraight this morning. I’m not a big crime reader, but I really enjoyed it. What I really liked was the view into the day-to-day of the Imperium. I think a lot of the misery of the setting gets lost in the focus on leaders and the military. I recommend it

wait what's your pet's name and what is your silly little nickname for them??

My job is developing aftermarket car parts; part of our qualification process requires on vehicle testing. Our test loop takes us onto the interstate where we set cruise control to 60mph (limit 70/65 depending on where) I feel bad for folks that get stuck behind me.

This post is unavailable.

The dogs are on high alert. A calico breached the perimeter and escaped through a small gap under the fence. Thorin keeps investigating the gap to see if there’s an angle where it’s big enough for him. Leman is investigating the cat’s trail to find where the initial breach occurred.

I expect every single law enforcement officer of any kind to be willing to die rather than risk killing a person unnecessarily. Anyone who does not like that tradeoff should not seek to carry a gun on behalf of the government. It's really that simple.
