This doesn't just hurt real developers and have serious ethical and environmental concerns, it also erodes the fairly shaky legal grey area that all game mods, emulators, and recompilations live in. It's a genuine threat to the hobby in pretty much every imaginable way - legal, moral, security.

The entire point of the original recompilations was that they didn't use any proprietary code from the original systems at all, and any in game assets had to be supplied by the end user, ostensibly from legal backups. That's why they weren't sued. Now it's just 'look Claude made me an emulator'
