I was a registered Republican from 1985 to 2006. Iraq, the Hurricane Katrina debacle and increasing vitriol towards the LGBT community drove me out. It sometimes takes a while for ppl to see that the GOP pols don't really believe anything what they sell except for the hate.

Also, they’re going to claim they’re doing this because Democrats are retaking Congress and will baselessly investigate them but a pardon presumes they’ll be indicted and then convicted which sure seems to point away from “frivolous charges”

This is literally the end of the rule of law. If a President can pardon people committing crimes on his behalf - and the Supreme Court says he himself can't be prosecuted for crimes committed as part of his job - then the government becomes a lawless entity able to violate our rights without limit.
