“I don’t want any of us to be or feel un-housed in our bodies our towns our movements ever again. This book is my prayer; if you need to use it as shelter, it’s yours.” My memoir HOME OUT THERE is available for preorder now! bookshop.org/p/books/home...

An enormous fire all but destroyed an infamous Nazi-era guesthouse known as the Eagle’s Nest in southern Germany, according to the police, who said on Saturday that a man had been arrested in connection with the blaze.

This is me and who knows how many other journalists who exist in a collapsing industry

To combat rising health care costs, people have said they are forgoing health insurance coverage, rationing their medications, cutting back on doctor visits and putting off health procedures.

Just remember to turn this feature back on at some point. Over the summer I had to pick up my niece from summer camp and it required texting the program head. There was a huge line of parents who could not get their kids because she had done this and was not getting anyone’s texts

If you have an iPhone w/ the current OS, go into Settings, scroll to the bottom to click on Apps, scroll down to M & go into the Messages app, and flick this switch “screen unknown senders”. This dumps 99% political text messages into a folder you can separately check.

So excited to buy this for my niece for the holidays!

It takes time and love to build a universe, but my next video game history book is finally here I’m so happy to announce that SUPER MARIO GALAXY: The Artistry and Impact of Nintendo’s One Giant Leap is available for pre-order RIGHT NOW from @bossfightbooks.com bossfightbooks.com/products/sup...

Finally. Part of why I voted for de Blasio was because I thought there was a chance he would follow through on his promise to do this

New: Mayor Zohran Mamdani and City Council Speaker Julie Menin have reached a deal to abolish NYC's horse carriage industry — a critical breakthrough in a decadeslong, politically fraught effort to ban the tourist attraction. www.politico.com/news/2026/10...

Two full days of news about women being pushed out of education and careers because men getting away with sexual assault is the status quo. And these stories are an infinitesimal representation of the scale of the issue

Student journalists still believe that it’s more important to hold powerful people to account than it is to hold on to access to those powerful people. They haven’t become Savvy Insiders yet

@NewsJennifer (Jennifer Schulze)@newsjennifer.bsky.social

I think it’s fair to say that the student journalists at Cornell are braver than the news networks who just gave up on their WH pool ban even though CNN is still being denied access. www.cornellsun.com/article/2026...

I loved this book so much. It caused an absolute uproar in my book club, so I think I need to check this out

Then the house started to get more detailed and three-dimensional but the walls and roof did not connect and it was askew and as it spun around, characters that looked like they were vaguely out of various IPs floated in and out of it

A storm at a Jones Beach concert is what made me stop wearing jelly shoes. You don’t ever want to flee from something that shocked the guitarist for Modest Mouse and flooded a parking lot in shoes that act like a slip n slide for each of your feet

Smitten Kitchen is where some of my favorite recipes come from. During the pandemic I cooked from it almost exclusively and learned to love zucchini and mushrooms because of Deb’s incredible recipes
