Grocery stores aren't just places to shop. They're sites of class struggle: low wages, high prices, corporate monopolies. Come to this event with author @annlarson.bsky.social, grocery workers, and labor journalists. Oct 27, 3pm central, online event.

I had a dream that I took my Dad to my Mom's funeral, which he didn't attend when it actually happened. There was a viewing and he stood over her body and said something I couldn't hear. Appropriate, as it is all there is to be said between them is only between them now.

Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.

In a major escalation in Dems embracing anti-trans positions, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the official campaign arm of House Democrats, released its first anti-trans ad supporting Nancy Lacore in SC-01. Transphobia is spreading among dems. Subscribe to support our journalism.

Turning Point now working with Ulster loyalist death squads. Interesting but hardly shocking.

The head of TPUK, the British offshoot of TPUSA, was caught on undercover video talking about hiring a hitman to carry out violence against opponents. That hitman met with undercover reporters to show them guns and talk about ways of hurting people. Insane story. www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/10...

The American healthcare system is a choice. Anyone who tries to rationalize it in any conceivable way is either a fucking idiot or making money off of it. I hope they one day have to deal with the choices they have made for the rest of us.

This has been by most metrics the single worst year of my life, and there's still time for it to surprise me for better or worse. I have a week and a half off starting around the end of this month and I just hope I don't have another disaster between now and then.

Seeing that Air Force One landed here at 7 for Trump's 6:15 rally in Kalispell which is a two hour drive *maybe* if they haul ass and break every traffic law. People have been waiting all day and it's getting colder. Shiver, hogs.

This proliferation of gambling in the society is deeply troubling, I've seen gambling addiction wreak havoc in my own family and watch people lose basically everything. It helps maintain a permanent underclass. Good on her for taking a stand.

"My brother died 13 yrs ago on the sidewalk in downtown Las Vegas. It’s a stark reality, but it illustrates the tragic arc of being brought there as kids so our dad could gamble at sportsbooks, to then surviving on the streets there as a homeless person and dying at 36." www.cjr.org/the-intervie...

Montana is likely the next state down from Nevada for gambling opportunities. I watched my parents throw hundreds of dollars at a time into video keno. Sometimes after I'd left home I'd drive down to visit them in the Bitterroot. When I'd call ahead they'd often tell me to meet them at one of the

multiple casinos around Stevi. When I'd get there sometimes they'd say they were up, hand me a hundred dollar bill and tell me to play it. As a poor student that kind of cash was a couple weeks of groceries I couldn't believe they'd piss away, especially after how we'd lived in my childhood years.

I've seen a few iterations of it I didn't totally hate but for the most part anime has always given me the ick. I think it's probably because I have a hard time investing anything into characters who behave like homeschooled kids on their first acid trip.

Now he’s been fucking illegally disappeared because he panicked when armed unidentified men started smashing his car windows when he had a child in the vehicle. What the fuck are we DOING HERE

This is just a fucking carjacking. How the hell was he supposed to know it was a state sponsored carjacking. what the fuck are we doing here.

The NYPD just released surveillance video of the ICE shooting (which occurred off camera). Two men in civilian clothes run up to a car with guns drawn. One second later, one man begins smashing the butt of his gun into the driver’s side window. The driver appears to panic and hit the gas.

I'm almost certain he has not. Death is nothing like the movies and it rarely comes quickly.

I really want to know if Pete Hegseth has ever actually seen a person die up close before, particularly from being shot. It's a nasty way to go.

So a bunch of guys in plainclothes surrounded a man in a car and shot him, then the government disappeared him and refuses to release any information about his condition or whereabouts
