Looks like the proposed NCAA calendar switch for men's soccer may not be happening after all. As the article states, most soccer folks want the change, most athletic departments/conferences, especially non-P4, don't because of non-soccer impacts. www.nytimes.com/athletic/772...

nytimes.comMen’s college soccer was celebrating its season overhaul. So why might it not happen? (Gift Article)Men’s college soccer has a new approved calendar, but more than 140 schools (and counting) are trying to block it. Here's the latest

A reminder, because it is almost that time of year: More children are killed by cars on Halloween than any other day of the year, by far. www.vox.com/future-perfe... If you're a parent, I hope you'll do what you can to keep kids safe. If you're driving on Saturday, PLEASE exercise extra caution.

I just thought Pat McAfee was out of touch because he was a roided GenX who had a hard time transitioning to the social media era. I'm confused

Wait, Pat McAfee is not yet 40?? I thought he was a 50 something trying to be sports-hip

I bought a Samsung Flip a few years ago - only phone I've ever purchased the insurance on. 3 times now on the hinge/screen. But it's still damn cool.

Ars Technica@arstechnica.com

Despite the company’s big talk about its “precision-engineered” hinge, some devices appear to have a hardware flaw that destroys their impressive internal display within hours (or minutes) of use: arstechnica.visitlink.me/ZXxHoE

I thought the social media lesson of Brazil was to stop amplifying their stupid shit. Get Kennedy off my screen. I don't need a video to surmise that he did a racism and a quackery today.

High-fiving is widely accredited to baseball player Dusty Baker in 1977, though there are some similar gestures previously gestures. Seriously - man walked on the moon first.

The pettiest hill that I will die on is that if your cool character in a historical novel is rolling their eyes at social conventions, no they're not, eye-rolling didn't become a widely described gesture in English literature until the *1980s* books.google.com/ngrams/graph...

Personal note: I don’t care about the award—truly that is a fact. I care about those sent to war. I care about their families and their experiences and their sacrifices. I’ve been covering service members and their families since I left the service in 2014. It’s an honor. bsky.app/profile/jiml...

These scenes aren’t atypical of the area when a king tide coincides with a storm, but flooding like Monday is a rare sight on a sunny day. There were no major waves or wind to push the water into the adjacent roadway. If that were to happen later this winter, the disruption would be much worse.

The NWS intentionally blocked off international observations without issuing any service change notices about it. If anyone in the agency has information on who ordered this change and why, my email address is my name at gmail.

These pages no longer provide international observations. It's a good thing that weather stops at international borders. 😢

Update...it's not just Canada 🤦‍♂️ As a cost-cutting measure, NWS has removed ALL international observations (outside of US buoys) from its site. A shame that such a simple and helpful tool had to be removed due to the Trump administration's anti-science budget cuts.

Donald Trump is so petty that his administration has removed Canadian observations from the NWS map. This is what happens when the president has an ego of a toddler. Anyone care to explain how this is helpful at all? I’ll wait…
