The current Klickitat County sheriff is 81. Also, he is cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.
Beneath a wide-brimmed, black cowboy hat, Klickitat County Sheriff Bob Songer warned in a Facebook video earlier this year that state lawmakers planned to strip voters of the freedom to elect their own local leaders. washingtonstatestandard.com/2026/10/24/a...
WA secretary of state says don’t trust USPS. Use a ballot drop box.
And who wouldn’t want to buy stock in this? “Sufficiently advanced AI systems could, if not developed, deployed, and operated with appropriate safeguards, oversight, and security measures, pose catastrophic or existential risks to humanity.”
TL;DR: If the Dems take Capitol Hill, there's only so much they will be able to do for two years. Bold reform will be vetoed. But performative legislating will be an important roadmap for the next White House occupant. And it will be reassurance for voters that Dems mean what they say.
Not clear if they're trying to cut 60,000 or if that's merely the number they are offering the buyout — with the expectation that a fraction will take the offer. An earlier buyout offer to 8,700 had an acceptance rate of 1/3.

Inasmuch as we all vote by mail in WA, I guess they would watch the tabulation in Renton?
The U.S. Department of Justice informed King County Elections Director Julie Wise this week that the administration is sending election monitors for the Nov. 3 midterms. It’s unclear what role federal election monitors will play or how many there will be in King County on Election Day.

Nothing is a more convincing admission that you know your entire administration is corrupt than giving criminal pardons to EVERYONE.

The Hanford Nuclear Reservation in WA is so toxic people can’t clean it up without getting sick.
My latest: state lawmakers thought a 2018 bill would force the U.S. DOE to pay workers who got sick cleaning up radioactive waste at a federal weapons site. Instead, the DOE has spent $12 million on lawyers and expert testimony to fight worker claims. www.propublica.org/article/hanf...
People at SpaceX need to start blowing the whistle.

We have to think about collapsing Trump poll numbers and Rs turning on him the same way we'd think about finally being able to corner a rabid raccoon in your garage. Good news: he's out of options. Bad news: he's a rabid raccoon.
😳 Trump loses it and SNAPS at a string of reporters, says Ilhan Omar might "go to jail," calls Somalia "a shit house," and boasts that thanks to a new program he announced today Americans "will make millions of dollars by turning others in" during absolutely deranged Oval Office event Supercut:
"Any effort to undermine the election will eventually resolve itself, whether through political compromise, contentious rulings from courts, the use of force or all three. But the economic impact will outlast any immediate political crisis."
And of course we are not surprised.
This is getting increasingly crazy: "The numbers are staggering. So are the assumptions about future wealth, billionaire follow-through and the public's willingness to trust its benefactors."
Seattle cops are prohibited by city ordinance from using drones for surveillance. Not so the King County Sheriff's Office.

“I’m not mocking or trivializing mental illness. People who are unwell need empathy and treatment. But they don’t need to be president.”
Ill save you some time: This is a really long treatise that is essentially a great big *shrug*. Nate has no idea.
I'm embarrassed to say I was oblivious to the fact WA has no parole system. Meanwhile, why doesn't our governor fill vacancies on panels like the Washington State Clemency and Pardons Board?
Maureen Dowd, and a photographer, at their best: "The president is leaning in to talk to the two Ivanka knockoffs, who look like sorority-sister clones, four eyes glued on the man they adore, two fervent smiles glazed with pink lip gloss."
Not exactly subtle, is he? What a fucking traitor.

It's all about the money, of course. And apparently the nation's No. 13 media market is too small, or too low-profile, for the NBA.
This is a jaw-dropping litany of corruption and incompetence among the multitude of unserious federal officials of the Trump “administration.” God help us all.
After the mid-terms, Trump "will retain immense capacity to inflict destruction on America, not to mention America’s allies."
"It was a wake-up call for everyone": Add this to the list of scenarios in which humans, or maybe even AI, could extinguish humanity — by disrupting the "internet of things."
Poll respondents seem to think "commonism," as I like to call it, ain't such a bad thing.
