I responded fuck off before I realized I was responding to famed YouTuber Max Landis. It was like an instinctive, almost Pavlovian response to the comment
one thing I don't like is when people talk about hypothetical automated futures where nobody has to work, and say they could be bad because their lives would be "sapped of meaning." like get over it big dog, get a hobby
every video game needs an option that auto advances spoken dialogue and not text. and a setting to adjust how quickly after dialogue ends it progresses to the next line. some games genuinely have their pacing ruined because every line has a full two second pause before the next one
the dual purpose of "our AI is getting too powerful!" is firstly to generate hype & secondly to provide a reason to scale it down that isn't uh oh, this nonsense is very expensive and we can't figure out a way to make a profit with it
the projects proudly being made with AI is especially funny considering we live in the attention marketplace. everybody has a million games to play, shows and movies to watch, etc. that when something says it's made with AI, i am almost happy to discard it. phew, one less thing on the backlog
When people say pretentious stuff like βI havenβt been excited by a new movie in yearsβ are they aware that this is a sign they donβt care about art at all
i think people are far too obsessed with the metanarrative about the creation of a work of art much more than they care about any work itself, to the point where its seemingly all they can talk about on the topic
did you know hideaki anno was going through blah blah and fans sent death threats blah
it's also frustratingly used as ammo in arguments about something's quality, or worse, straight up informs people on their opinions. knowledge of FFXV's development has crippled any discussions of artistic merit about the game because nobody wants to talk about anything but what it might have been
i'm not interested in talking about an alternate timeline where something might have been different, i want to talk about the work that we got. unfortunately, you absorbed the knowledge that development was troubled and transformed that into an opinion that the game must be bad

i think this is some kind of mechanism to avoid being vulnerable while talking about your feelings or simply not wanting to engage with art on a deeper level. citing trivia is not analysis and it's not what art is about
whenever i see the insane martial arts training that characters go through in movies i'm always like. man that looks like it sucks. i wouldn't do that. thank god thats not me
the watcher of the infinite monkeys on infinite typewriters when a monkey types the entirety of hamlet except he mistyped one comma instead of a period
