IT guy messaged me at 5:05pm on Friday to ask if our site is running on PHP. Lol my guy you better hope it's not (it's not) because it is way too late to be looking into this

and the people who are saying "sure cars are useful and maybe even revolutionary technology, but could there be downsides to rebuilding our whole society around them?" are not the ones who are in denial.

My company hired a freelancer developer to build some software to enable ai assisted design. He tried to use claude to vibe code the entire thing. In three and a half months, before they pulled the plug on the project, he generated 11,000 commits and the message for each one read exactly like this.

I’m sorry, this is one of the funniest things I’ve ever read. This is the purest expression of gamer brain ever published. It cannot be parodied.

One of my least favorite impacts of ai on tech writing has gotta be when people add inane graphics to their blog posts that do absolutely nothing to clarify complex ideas in the text of the post, but instead illustrate extremely simple ideas in a way that is much less understandable than the text

The idea that you can just duck out of these complexities by saying “I’m a socialist” is literal baby talk. I’m embarrassed for you dude.

Interesting crop

F#ck. “The prospective buyer of TikTok’s American operations” cited by Trump is an “investor consortium” that includes “Andreessen Horowitz,” the VC firm founded by Peter Thiel ally Marc Andreessen (which also played a role in Elon’s Twitter acquisition) 6/30/25 1/ www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

This has to be fake. I know elon is cringe but this is unbelievably cringe

Musk is prepping the male Grok “companion,” which he describes as a cross between “Edward Cullen from Twilight and Christian Grey from 50 Shades.”

Really wish the discourse around sending money to Gaza had started with "what you are doing is breaking the law and put your own safety at risk" (the conversation happening today) rather than "anyone who claims to be Gazan is a scammer and if you say you've spoken to them then you're a scammer too"

Neurons on opposite sides of my brain light up; a new connection forms between the distant memory of a shitty tweet I saw a decade ago and the guy whose ads make me go "why does he talk like that?"

Weird that they're focusing on AI when they seem to have cracked human cloning

Marco Rinaldi@marcorinaldi.bsky.social

Why? Who is this meant to be good for? Nobody wants your shit AI books, never mind 8,000 in a year. Just a terrible idea and a horrible road the publishing industry is heading down.

I feel kinda similarly about seasoning discourse. Once someone posted a photo of Hainan chicken rice it was over. Like, dunking on white people for liking bland food is still fine, but you've undermined your credibility as a good-food-knower.

i get delivery now and then but i'm sorry the arguments for it were definitively lost when "burrito taxi" was coined. there's no coming back from that. the discourse is forever altered, it can never be reignited

You are up to date.
