My first open source release: Tiny Tells! Six small status characters in one <tiny-tell> tag. They're animated like little cartoon characters, so a state change is a reaction, not an icon swap or a spinner. MIT licensed, 14 KB, no dependencies. tinytells.dev

Hi protocol friends! I've been cooking up a Very Large PDS (vlpds) implementation capable of scaling up to billions of accounts and down to just one. It uses Object Storage as its only state, supports HA operation, live scaling up and down, is feature-complete with the reference PDS, and is FOSS.

vlpds.jazco.devOverview · vlpds docsAn atproto PDS whose only durable storage is an object store. Any node serves any request, one node can run a personal server for free, and a few nodes can carry all of Bluesky's write load.

I installed #iOS27. Running really solid right now, although it has pushed my storage to the brink. For a 128GB iPhone, the fact that iOS is currently occupying 66GB is criminal... #wwdc26

I believe I ran the first Bluesky-first congressional campaign in the country. Some folks thought I was nuts. But it was absolutely the best move. Bluesky has better fundraising metrics and engagement for candidates, and the site isn’t overrun with Nazis. Take note. youtu.be/XOfkMBMpw3s?...

I've worked in Democratic digital comms for a long time and pay attention to campaign metrics across platforms. Increasingly I'm seeing Dems who crosspost on X, Bluesky, and Threads get better engagement on Bluesky even with far fewer followers. Here's @jamestalarico.bsky.social's clip last night:

OpenAI's claim that this is a central conjecture in discrete geometry is not an exaggeration. This will I think be looked back on as the first time that AI solved a major mathematics problem (defined as a problem that all experts in some subfield had thought about). openai.com/index/model-...

Wait until you’re questioning consciousness, you’ll finally understand why I had an existential crisis my entire first year studying cognitive science

unpopular take with both crowds so far we’ve only ever seen thinking ability *together* with consciousness (first person experience), which is why we’re instinctively coupling them imo thinking doesn’t require that. i’d say llms “think” and “generate ideas” — but have no first person experience

@lou.gg as I was building this, the difference between build and live collections became pretty clear. Why is `renderMarkdown` only for build time? And is there any better hybrid live collection that determines content freshness? Or should I stick with rebuilding on every change…

@aka.dad two questions: 1. thoughts on canonical URL? Ideally my personal site is the "source of truth", although, it's published using Offprint. 2. `blob` is a defined field for the `app.offprint.block.image` lexicon, but I see `image` as the published field. 3. Not seeing captions published.
