I just want to say I’m very proud of how my little site performed tonight and I hope some of you have found it useful. This is something I’ve wanted to do for a longggg time and can’t believe I made it happen.

So, we can relax. Chow’s relected, with what looks like a slightly more aligned council too.

Wab Kinew calls on Ottawa to abolish Indian Act: "I'm not sure if that lines up with your vision of Canada, that we still have a race-based form of identification in this country. It's long overdue that we have a relationship with Indigenous peoples that reflects who we are as Canadians today."

A collaboration of nations is taking place in Ottawa as chiefs sat down with the prime minister and premiers to discuss national issues. Hear about the tough topics and why many are calling this an historic moment, tonight on APTN National News. Watch live: www.youtube.com/@aptnnews

This is a pretty big deal. I'm hoping the commitment to craft an Indian Act reform/replacement *with* actual Indigenous involvement will help Carney avoid the fiasco that PET kicked-off with his White Paper thing back in the 60s.

Mark Carney on abolishing the Indian Act: "I'm committed to a process that moves Canada beyond the Indian Act."

PM Mark Carney says he has asked his ministers to work with First Nations to move Canada beyond the Indian Act. He also announces his government is providing more than $2.5B in funding over 5 years to bolster emergency preparedness in First Nations communities. #cdnpoli

We'd make a fortune tariffing the amount garbage the US sends our way on a daily basis, and I don't even just mean the physical kind.

Scott Robertson@sarobertson.bsky.social

"The garbage is being tariffed on its way into the United States." seems only fair that we counter-tariff the garbage coming out of the United States...

On an average weekday, buses in Brampton Ont. carry about 226,500 people. The key to getting people to ride them, reports Jonathan English. They need to be able to show up at the stop and know that a bus will be along in a few minutes. www.begiant.ca/stories/plac...

Scoop: Dubai’s DP World Ltd. is set to unveil a deal backing potential development of Canada’s port of Churchill, a northern outpost that Prime Minister Mark Carney aims to expand for exports to Europe and other markets. The UAE Crown Prince happens to be visiting Ottawa today and tomorrow:

It would be extremely short-sighted and a terrible miscalculation for Carney's team to accept a deal now, only for Trump and crew to turn around post-midterms and blame Canadians for their wipeout and slap new tariffs back on us or worse.

Kory Teneycke on rumours a Canada-U.S. trade deal is close: "They are not people who bargain in good faith or have demonstrated a respect for agreements that they themselves have signed. There are no deals, even if you get a deal."

Destroying the UN seems like an impeachable offence, but Americans are too stupid and Congress too cowardly to do it. France and the UK should veto this. This has been the regime's plan all along. Destroy the UN's legitimacy and its charter and replace it with his corrupt "Board of Peace".

NEW from me: Last year, Mark Carney set a goal to double Canada's non-US exports by 2035. Today, he's already halfway there In response to Trump's tariffs & threats, Canadian businesses, consumers, & even tourists are taking difficult steps to decouple from the US🧵 www.apricitas.io/p/how-canada...

Not only did the City have to lock replies, the wife of Stephen Miller, Trump’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy, took the time to mock the move. We have people, including a local tech leader, throwing the city under the bus for American culture war nonsense.

Canadian politics is as awful and terrible as American politics. Whether it is provincial, municipal or federal, we are always one election away from stupidest outcome possible.

If it weren't for Carney's majority now & seeming uninterest in playing stupid political games, we'd be in big trouble right now. With all of the conservative/separatist prov gov'ts now, they could wreck the constitution, rework the charter, strip us of our rights + freedoms & other awful things.

The election of our discontent, final column. Hardest one to wrote. Had to rewrite it from scratch to get the argument clear. City elections are a catch-all for angst that isn’t directed to the place where change can actually happen. It’s a kind of dysfunction. I hope you’ll read & share it.
