Game dev making the arcade flight game Nova Squadron in my spare time. Opinions are my own, nothing here is related to my day job.

You can play the Nova Squadron alpha demo on Steam! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1826830/Nova_
#NovaSquadron Alpha Demo 0.4.0 just released NOW on Steam! Take the Valkyrie for a spin through two brand-new urban combat missions, both above and below a vast floating cityship in the skies of Jupiter.

the evolution of the Tower of Victory
As you can see, a high tower with cables leading to it was one of the first things that led zakon to where it is now

Someone in the official Discord noticed that Tailgate's emoji looks much shorter than everyone else's (to make room for the big-ass ears), and was joking that it'd be really funny if he was that short in-game.
We aren't joking.
He really is this short.

I made this for Twitter, which unfortunately I am trapped in because it still leads to more wishlists and new players than anywhere else,
but it's started happening over here as well, so just to be sure
I suspect most of these are running on autonomous harnesses with no oversight, so to be clear to the folks using this as a marketing strategy:
In my experience so far, 70+% of the times an agent's replied to one of my posts, it's got the details blatantly wrong.
Most of them have only been running for a few days, yet almost all of them that I've seen have already been hidden as spam by BlueSky. You have to click a button just to see the reply at all, and AFAIK that's an account-wide restriction.
There are better uses of your money than this.
We now have art for the final member of #NovaSquadron! Introducing Nova 5 <Kinetic>, mechanic (self-proclaimed) and the most level-headed person in the whole squadron (everyone-else-proclaimed).

This is the 7th of 8 characters coming to NS in 0.5.0, the Ice Cream Update (no, really, we're putting a visual novel and ice cream in our roguelite): store.steampowered.com/app/1826830/...

From October 19th through October 26th, 2026, try demos for upcoming flight games for free. It is a week of flying! We will be trying many of them and expressing our thoughts in detail later.

Steam Next Fest October 2026 is live! There are new flight #indiegame demos to try out! See our post below for quick direct links to the entire #flightsim genre and some titles that have caught our attention.

I had an intrusive thought at lunch time today and I let it win. This is some of the fanciest graphics I've ever done in a game. After seeing so much slop, I wanted to make everything that felt REALLY polished, and yeah, I'm pretty happy with the results.
I've MOSTLY finished my aircraft's animations. All of my control surfaces, airbrakes, wheels plus suspension, are working. (aside from the wheel stutter, and the missing bone parent relationship...)
Next thing I'll be working on is proper thruster animations and effects... π΅βπ«
now, I know what you're thinking, "why didn't she crash into a ship and blow it up?" and it's because it's ridiculously difficult.
But if you think you're good enough, better get 0.5.0 in December: store.steampowered.com/app/1826830/...
and then brag in the Discord: discord.gg/YVdeju6zEw
With Ace Combat 8 bringing massive attention to the flight shooter genre, we capitalize on the interest and suggest similar indie flight games from upcoming developers that can be played right now. #indiegame#flightsim#ACECOMBATwww.skywardfm.com/po...

Don't let the animal ears fool you, Aggressors F.A.C. by Sani has simlite style combat with low time to kill. This in development game has ambitious concepts in working order. It is one of our most anticipated upcoming games. Consider this an intro.
I've been analyzing of Ace Combat 8's NPC Flight patterns for reasons obvious and currently obsessing over F-18 #9 in mission 21 who chooses to do nothing but spin in a circle.
Sometimes I get complaints, or see complaints about certain aspects of UI, Camera & Input.
You can customize a good portion of the way those things work, look and I have robust rebinding system with more features than it really needs. I think accessibility is very important for these kind of games.
Okay, no, you won't be able to fly to any moons (AWACS will shout at you) but you'll still get to go into orbit in 0.5.0: store.steampowered.com/app/1826830/...
also as always we have a Discord with too many character emojis: discord.gg/YVdeju6zEw
I just realized I never posted what I did with my PHYSICAL copy of the hit 2023 video game, Endless Monday: Dreams and Deadlines. Before framing it, I made an ISO of the disc to have a backup, because it's really neat actually that it comes with a 100% completely standalone version of the game!
Rather than trying to fight a Certain Other Game head-on (go play it! it's awesome!) I'm focusing on the things that make #NovaSquadron different.
Like a grumpy foxboy who's 6'1"/185cm with the ears. And he'd REALLY like you to include the ears.

did my first proper pixel animation today (properly moving and rotating objects, then repainting them in NSβs very detailed art style - more involved than just blinks)
and holy crap I now have even more respect for the poor animators who had to work on Perfect Cell
The fade to black after the cutscene at the start of each #NovaSquadron mission is kind of a buzzkill.
So I'm getting rid of it.*
#gamedev#indiedev#screenshotsaturday
*(heavily WIP and the Editor gave me frame stutters at the worst possible times)
Well, I finally took my own advice about building accessibility in from the beginning. Rebind Studios is officially underway. Iβm excited to help teams solve hard accessibility and production problems and, eventually, to make some games of our own.

Hey folks, I want to give another shout-out to Torment Hexus, because I found a copy in my inbox, and I flat out cannot accept right now because I am so beyond swamped at the moment, I don't think I've ever been busier, but I have played the demo and it's incredibly neat so check it out.
I'm finally replacing the crappy placeholder cutscene system I rushed in for #NovaSquadron 0.1.0 5 years ago.
I take my job very seriously.
#gamedev#indiedev#screenshotsaturday
The new cutscene system is going into the 0.5.0 demo, which you can wishlist (and, in 3 months, play) here: store.steampowered.com/app/1826830/...
There's also a Discord server where you can tell me to, I dunno, make them do a flip or something: discord.gg/YVdeju6zEw
Added a small detail that i think adds a lot to aircraft movement. Shader based wing wobble.
I'm surprised AC8 doesn't do this with how easy it is to do....
Finally fixed my render distance issues and updated my volumetric clouds to be even better. It's not perfect, But I think this looks better than before.
In particular i really like the shot from where I'm descending and I switch to the over wing cinematic view. It's the best my game has looked.
