Paris has announced €200 million for safer cycling and healthier streets 🙌🚲 @paris.fr has unveiled its new Plan Vélo 2027–2032, with an ambitious investment in cycling infrastructure and a commitment to Vision Zero - eliminating deaths and serious injuries on the roads.

What's in the plan? 🚲 140 km of new dedicated cycle lanes, prioritising major missing links and integration with neighbouring municipalities ⚠️ 420 junctions to be made safer 🔒 More secure bicycle parking and stronger measures to tackle dangerous driving and blind spots around heavy goods vehicles

🧵 1/4 You're not imagining it, cars are getting bigger. In fact, cars are growing approx. 1.2 cm longer and 0.5 cm wider and taller per year. The bigger the car, the bigger the visibility problem for drivers.

50+ cargo bikes, cruising through London 😎😍 Last week's Cargo Bike Cruise brought together businesses using cargo bikes for deliveries, waste management, electrical work, gardening and more. And the latest TfL data shows cargo bike use increased by 126% across London between 2022 and 2025 🙌

Over the next few weeks, events like this are taking place across Europe - bringing people together to show what our streets could look like when children can cycle, walk and play safely. See what's happening near you (or add your own event!) cleancitiescampaign.org/streets-for-... #StreetsForKids

cleancitiescampaign.org🌈 Streets For Kids is coming! This autumn, we're mobilising parents, teachers and children across cities in Europe to call for more School Streets – roads around schools closed to traffic.

Back-to-school season is the perfect time to think about what kind of space children have outside the school gates. Fewer cars = more safety, more calm, and more freedom to walk or cycle. But too often, it’s not the reality. Let’s add safer streets to the back-to-school checklist ✅

🚸 A #schoolstreet isn’t only about safer roads… In Paris, surface temperatures on some redesigned streets were found to be, on average, 5°C cooler than on nearby roads (and in some cases up to 12°C cooler!) 🌡️ School streets are a first step towards more liveable neighbourhoods 🌈💚 #StreetsForKids

⚡ Europe’s cities need more public EV charging - but targeted planning could reduce the number of chargers they need to build by more than a quarter. Our new research compares Greater London, Madrid, Paris and Warsaw, four cities with very different networks and starting points.

Cities can reduce infrastructure needs by directing more charging towards workplaces, destinations and private parking, making better use of higher-powered chargers, and reducing car dependency. ✅ This would also free up more public space for other uses.

The findings are clear ➡️ cities still need a major expansion of public charging by 2030 and 2035. 📍 But where and how they build matters just as much as how many chargers they install.
