It's simple. Everyone in the US enjoys the protections of the Constitution - even visitors. So if someone commits a crime here, you give them due process here. You charge them here, try them here, and sentence them here. You don't deport them to an offshore torture prison.

There is no moral equivalence between bullies and the bullied, between tyranny and democracy, or between brutality and decency. No individual can be free in a society devoid of justice. There can be no liberty where brutality reigns.

As someone who spent most of my career dealing with financial fraud (first as an SEC attorney and later as a banking law professor), I am pretty familiar with the concept of a Ponzi scheme. Social Security? Not a Ponzi scheme. Elon Musk's businesses? Looking more and more like a Ponzi scheme.
