I hate AXS so fucking much. Just take my money in exchange for a ticket! Isn't that your job?

For me, the most offensive part of this criminal nonsense is that these chucklefucks think that my vote can be purchased for $90.

You guys want to hear a short but adorable story that happened right in front of me at the baggage claim in NYC yesterday? I wasn't part of it and there are bits I didn't catch but holy crap, I can't stop thinking about it.

On this day, Oct. 2, 1984, Twin/Tone Records released the Replacements’ “Let It Be” album and rooftop photo. Fans who for six weeks had been spinning the “I Will Dare” single relentlessly finally got to hear the full new LP, which has come to be considered an all-timer @mplsmusichistory.bsky.social

42 years ago this month, September 1984, fans of a nascent musical subgenre called "college rock" were hearing a new Replacements song—"I Will Dare"—off a Twin/Tone Records 12" single that was fast becoming the Mats' first truly breakthrough release, weeks before the full "Let It Be" album came out.

Very excited to share the cover of my new book JUST BENEATH THE SOIL: WORLD WAR II THROUGH THE EYES OF ITS LAST WITNESSES. It will be out May 4, 2027. I learned so much writing this book and truly can't wait to share it with you all. It’s available for preorder now: sites.prh.com/justbeneatht...

Definitely checking this out! "Weinstein Hammons Gallery is pleased to present Paths That Cross, a rare group of works that reflect decades of artistic exchange between Patti Smith, Robert Mapplethorpe, and Lynn Davis."

To shift gears for a moment: What's a band or artist that is critically reviled or easy to dunk on that you passionately, unironically love? For me it's the Presidents of the United States of America and Marcy Playground. I'm happy to discuss those two for hours 😂

Laurie Anderson's performance at the Walker Art Center last night was angry, funny, and surprisingly emotional. "What do you do when your country disappears? Where will you go?" Sorry, no photos of the performance, but here's the stage and scans of the program they handed out.

feeling unexpectedly emotional as we visit saerbeck, a town of just 7200 in central germany that formed a climate municipality. they produce 4.5x the electricity they need, and have developed a whole array of climate solutions. one of them? a climate action curriculum that starts in kindergarten.

Coyote vs. Acme was great! Our screening was full of little kids, which made it even better. One kid was walking out of the theater singing "I Fought the Law" and I swear my heart grew three sizes.

This girl I used to waitress with in Austin, we moved to New York together in 2003 on a literal Greyhound bus. Shared a fifth floor walk-up studio that, when it rained, had more leaks in the ceiling than we had pots and pans. We used to get drunk and smoke off the fire escape and do “sad-offs.”

"Raise a toast to St. Joe Strummer! I think he might have been our only decent teacher."

Alfred Soto@sotoalfred.bsky.social

Joe Strummer, dead more than 20 years, should've been proud of his legacy with The Clash. He would've celebrated a birthday. humanizingthevacuum.wordpress.com/2018/10/02/r...

I had my usual travel anxiety dream, but instead of being stuck in an airport I was stuck on a fanciful version of the UK rail system. And both of my deceased parents made an appearance, which was new.

You should watch this trailer if you enjoy watching Olivia Colman get absolutely railed by a wooden sex bot

kottke.org@kottke.org

The trailer for Wicker (starring Olivia Colman, Alexander Skarsgård, Peter Dinklage, Elizabeth Debicki). “An outcast in a fishing village commissions a husband for herself made out of wicker.” Looks unhinged (complimentary). (via @skullsandsheets.bsky.social) [youtube.com]
