Socialism is what they called public power. Socialism is what they called social security. Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations. Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people. —Harry Truman, 1952

A week ago I was in Alabama surrounded by some of the finest people I have ever had the pleasure to know. Folks from Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Arkansas, and West Virginia who are as sick of this shit as any Californian or New Yorker. We may be outnumbered some places, but we are everywhere.

Thanks to all the inflatable frogs, flying squirrels, chickens, and dinosaurs - 80 degrees at midday in San Diego - that's sacrificing personal comfort to make a point and entertain folks. #NoKings

Love Munter's paintings. I have prints of an interior with a decorated Christmas tree and another winter scene called Breakfast of Birds. Fabulous color that warms my heart.

Identify, share and amplify our heroes.

Leaders need followers to matter. We can all lean in to celebrate and amplify those people in positions of responsibility who are putting their jobs on the line to speak up for democracy. Roth is the strongest voice on academic freedom in the US right now. Amplify people who step up. 2/

Wonderful to see another educator standing up to Trump.

My take on Compact for Collaboration: “Federal funding for universities should never depend on a loyalty oath...The health of our democracy depends on the freedom to work with the federal government without having to follow the ideological dictates of those in power.” www.wsj.com/us-news/educ...

“Terrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart. Men, women, and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared.” Diary of Anne Frank January 13, 1943

Miller's dream is to incite MAGA to kill Judges then he can get back to inciting them to kill Democrats. #PresidentMiller

Miller has Fascist Hissy #3 today after another court ruling. This one from a judge appointed by radical left marxist Donald J Trump.

Judge Immergut quotes James Madison from the Records of the Federal Convention of 1787: “A standing military force, with an overgrown Executive will not long be safe companions to liberty. The means of defence [against] foreign danger, have been always the instruments of tyranny at home.”

Reality check for any one who desperately wants Trump to behave like a normal person.

Popehat@kenwhite.bsky.social

A grim reminder: these people will never be satisfied. There’s no point at which they will say “we’ve won, let’s enjoy life.” They will always be looking for someone else to punish, to revile, to dehumanize. They’re empty without that.

Miller is depraved and has always been depraved. Apparently was raised by monsters.

nullifie@nullifie.bsky.social

The year is 2003. 17-year-old Stephen Miller is sitting in the back of a school bus talking about torture, as in “Torture is a celebration of human life and dignity." Miller looks directly into the camera and describes the torturing Iraqis in gruesome detail, as his peers laugh uncomfortably.

Anything for a buck. Also, there'll never be enough bucks for these billionaires.

The one good thing about this “run America like a business” nightmare is that more people are beginning to realize how corrupt and craven many businesses truly are. Take notes. Never forget how they abandoned us. Don’t forgive their complicity.

Ah, guns, right-wing America's solution to every problem. What happens during the next pandemic? Instead of vaccines and masks, does MAGA just give everyone white and male a gun to ward off disease and the diseased?

Jason Karsh@jkarsh.bsky.social

Republicans: Americans are ready for a serious debate about the things that are killing our kids. Everyone: And, of course, you’re talking about the number one killer of children in this country, guns. We totally agree— Rs: SWEET JESUS, NO, I’M TALKING ABOUT VACCINES.

Debate these results, RFK, Jr. and MAGA lunatics! Trump and his morons are fixing to lead us back to the Dark Ages. Of course, they'll protect themselves while destroying millions of people all over the world just like Trump did with Covid vaccines.
