it's not just the lack of scooping, but also that there's no need to "change out" the litter as far as i can tell. because it automatically cycles after each use, the litter remains pretty clean at all times. you of course need to occasionally add a little bit of litter to keep it at levels.

this was the most surprising part of it. the worst part of a litterbox was having to declare bankruptcy and change out the whole thing. so far, after a few weeks, i've not had to do it. you just have to replace the small bag at the base that collects the used litter clumps.

as i'm vibecoding a hackernews tui app that i've wanted for a while, i have observed myself periodically telling claude code about things that i hate, like the 'Application Support' folder that stdlibs seem determined keep alive forever.

i've really been enjoying my first two months at temporal. the engineering culture there is professional and pragmatic. i was lovingly tossed into the deep end for my first project -- it required me to do a pretty deep dive and i love having all this context.

watching movies on apple tv has become enshittified well past any kind of redemption arc. a future where we can just browse movies without being dark patterned into partner subscriptions is well past the horizon of my lifetime. what a bummer haha. happy holidays everyone.

listening to chicago leads to some difficult thoughts. chicago is allright. everything is tight, and it's good in the way that a bunch of studio musicians might jam together after having met an hour beforehand. peter cetera though is s-tier shit and takes the band as high as it can realistically go.

and now that i have broken a plate i've decided to cook some chicken thighs. i've already had dinner. don't care. i'm working on a Handbook for the Recently Divorced. it's gonna be a banger. packed with lots of things like the chicken thighs.

i bought a cheap timex quartz wristwatch because my apple watch was making me tired -- i felt like i was always adjusting it or dealing with notifications. i've got to say, i love this thing. i never have to charge it. it doesn't beep at me. the battery will last for years.

these ghouls. how dare they opt me in to that. turned off on all accounts ty.

If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features." There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.
