Here's Douglas Adams introducing us to the idea of AI agents in 1990 in the (linear non-interactive) TV programme Hyperland, ably assisted by Tom Baker. Incredible. youtu.be/5nOXGYxHVFI?...

Infocom used their ZIL language, a derivative of LISP, to program their text adventures. #RetroGaming
[1985] Micro Live - Fred Harris visits Boston software company Infocom. The developer has enjoyed great success with its line of text adventure games - the likes of Zork, Planetfall, Enchanter, and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - which eschew graphics in favour of a simple text display.

OK, so uncle Clive didn't really "market the first personal computer", but nonetheless this is wonderful. #Sinclair #ZX80
[1981] Look East - Neil Lyndon looks at the extraordinary career of Clive Sinclair (30 July 1940 - 16 September 2021). The Cambridge inventor is on the cusp of releasing a new, flatscreen CRT pocket television, which may change television design for ever.

After meeting an old man in the desert, I've decided to start listening to the voices in my head, and I want to vaporise two million people. Thanks to the power of the #ZX81, I can now do that, with 3D Star Raid, which is definitely not #StarWars. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ii1A...

Love watching these videos, especially where they try to predict the future ("Soon, every home could have its own computer..."). This one also shows how chips are made. #RetroComputing youtu.be/9Ackau8135w

I decided to build something for about 50 people on the planet, maybe less... www.amigalove.com/viewtopic.ph... It's a chess variant game on the C128 in GEOS. Yes. You read that right. And if you are one of ~10 people that has a SuperCPU 128? It'll be about 10x a better engine (2mhz vs 20mhz).
This is very cool. Migraine inducing but cool. Nicely explained, too. #ASCII youtu.be/3YtygAx_C6A

'Nostalgia has traditionally depended on something being gone. You missed the TV show because it was no longer broadcast. Your favourite toy broke...The band split up. The past mattered because you couldn’t go back to it, but now you can – easily.' #Retro theconversation.com/now-that-its...

I've been guilty of watching #C64 demos without giving much thought to how much ingenuity / genius is needed to achieve some of the effects. This is a fantastic explanation of Rodents in the Attic by the person who coded it. youtu.be/uZ1atMUOUMU
