Watching Pam Bondi attack Sen. Whitehouse in lieu of answering a question about photos of Trump with topless girls is how I know there are photos of Trump with topless girls.

Please make this guy's fall as hard and humiliating as possible.

THE CHICKENS ARE FINALLY COMING HOME TO ROOST Ryan Walters is out & the investigation floodgates just opened. The Oklahoma AG launched a full audit of Walters’ entire tenure as Superintendent, and it’s about damn time. Also the education dept website’s being scrubbed of his culture-war nonsense. 🧵

FUCK THEM KIDS. These people are literal monsters.

Nathan Kalman-Lamb@nkalamb.bsky.social

“Fuck them kids.” That’s literally what an ICE agent said when ICE, the FBI et al. raided an apartment in Chicago, including with a Blackhawk helicopter, separated children from their parents, and zip-tied them to each other. abc7chicago.com/post/ice-chi...

Amidst the shutdown and the continued attacks on institutions, individuals, and communities, it's important that we document human toll. To that end, here's a chance to share anonymously how you and your loved ones are faring in the wake of rapid social and policy change. tinyurl.com/thehumantoll

I continue to think that one of the reasons this country is falling apart is the wholesale abandonment of public virtue as a broadly shared aspiration. Or even something people should be embarrassed about if they don’t have it.

The president said, in a televised speech, that he's sending his new, less restrained, more violent military into US cities to practice their brutality on immigrants and minorities, to better train them to apply that brutality to other countries. He said this out loud.

People of Illinois, we need your help. Get your cell phones out – record what you see. Put it on social media. Peacefully ask for badge numbers and identification. Speak up for your neighbors. We need to let the world know this is happening – and that we won’t stand for it.

Pritzker: "In any other country, if federal agents fired upon journalists & protesters when unprovoked what would we call it? If officials marched down streets harassing civilians & demanding their papers, what would we say? I don't think we'd have trouble calling it what it is: authoritarianism"

They're going for every bit of media and tech they can. We're going to have to get very DIY and old school with how we do things if we want to get away from their prying eyes and tentacles.

As a former gamer, I cannot overstate how big of a deal this right-wing takeover of Electronic Arts is. Are they going to create video games where they kidnap and dismember journalists like Jamal Khashoggi?

I've also noticed and I don't really understand why so many seemingly intelligent people don't get it. Yeah, it's hard in the moment, but it's a lot harder to live with a damaged reputation and a lack of integrity.

Ron Filipkowski@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social

A pattern is developing where everyone who fights back against a Trump attack inevitably wins with their reputation much better than before, and everyone who caves to him looks like shit and has Trump coming back for more a month later.

There are credible reports that federal agents may be replaying the 2020 playbook and surging into Portland with the goal of provoking conflict and violence in my hometown. I am in close contact with state and local officials to monitor this activity.

Kimmel back on air and now Sinclair caving in is an unambiguous good guys win. People stood up for the First Amendment and the right thing and the censorious fascists lost. It’s one skirmish in the wider war. But it is a win.

Her direction to the photog after peppering him with those Qs was such a boss move. Wendy Suares, I salute you 👏

Christopher Webb@cwebbonline.com

There’s definitely more to this story. My guess is there’s another scandal about to break. 📌 Reporter Wendy Suares chases after Ryan Walters after he unexpectedly announced he’s stepping down from the superintendent position.

This is exactly what the Niemöller poem is about. You either stand on principle against authoritarianism or you enable it to creep and make it stronger.

OBAMA: It's fair to say that 80% of the world's problems involve old men hanging on who are afraid of death and insignificance, and they won't let go. They build pyramids, and they put their names on everything. They get very anxious about it.

One of the unanticipated side effects of these times is learning how many of our supposed tech geniuses think this dingbat is a brilliant philosopher. The Harris-Walz campaign should have never let up on the "weird" thing.

One thing we've learned in the last 12 hours: The Sinclair-Nexstar ban on Kimmel, in terms of his reach, means nothing in an era when late-night shows have an afterlife or simultaneous life on streaming. Kimmel's average audience is 1.6M. On YouTube, last night's monologue is already at 8.4M views.

Folks who have never looked into running for office may not know about call time, but it's basically the expectation that you're going to spend hours a day asking people for money as part of your campaign. It sucks ass and is why a lot of people (myself included) don't run for office.

🚨 HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨 For the next month, we're doing an experiment: live-streaming as a core campaign strategy. Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, I'll be streaming with guests, games, and (of course) my cat, Heater. And if this works, we'll keep doing it. Join us tomorrow, 7 PM CT.

It's going to take me a long time to forgive this country for fucking up what was essentially an open-book test.

I keep hoping a side effect of all the fuckery with TV and social media is that more people go back to reading books.

As you cancel streaming services, here is a casual reminder that only 16% of Americans read for pleasure anymore, and your local library has hundreds or thousands of books you haven't read. They would love to see you stop by and renew your library card.
