As a Thornhiller it will never stop being hilarious/humiliating that no matter bad the Conservatives do nationally, they'll still win Thornhill with a supermjaority.

Polling Canada@canadianpolling.bsky.social

Here's that Nanos poll mapped out Seats on this: LPC: 269 - (244-289) CON: 55 - (44-72) NDP: 12 - (7-17) BQ: 6 - (1-11) GPC: 1 - (0-2)

The "all anti-Zionism is always and forever antisemitism" people and the "all antisemitism becomes fine if we just say it's anti-Zionism, even if we're ranting about the Talmud" people reinforce one another, even if both sides utterly fail to see it.

There's a decent argument that this column violates the criminal code prohibition against inciting violence. The thing he's accusing Lewis of is also how Yitzhak Rabin's killer tried to 'justify' his actions - removing other Jews to 'protect' the Jewish people. This is sick, and a shanda.

Winnipeg is still clawing its way back from the infrastructure deficit caused (in part) by the tax freeze brought in by the guy who was mayor two before the current mayor, over a decade ago. How is anyone taking Klein seriously?

Winnipeg Free Press@winnipegfreepress.com

Mayoral candidate Kevin Klein is promising to cancel a water and sewer rate hike proposed for next year and freeze the fee for two years.

Anyone who has ever been involved in s.35 consultations, on either side, will be able to tell you with absolute certainty that there is no possible way that they could accomplish this in a year, never mind 2.5 months. Smith is just straight up lying.

Carrie Tait@carrietait.bsky.social

Premier Danielle Smith says if Albertans favour separation in the October referendum, consultations with First Nations would take about 2.5 months and a second, **binding** referendum on secession could happen early next year. www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/alber...

Extremely creepy and weird for the government to pledge loyalty to an industry lobby group.

Winnipeg Free Press@winnipegfreepress.com

CHICOUTIMI – Prime Minister Mark Carney says his government is “loyal” to the supply management system protecting Canada’s dairy sector and is pointing to the Liberals’ choice of candidate in an upcoming byelection as proof of that commitment.

Allegedly behaving "erratically" and being "armed with a screwdriver" will never justify a police execution. Yet the IIU will almost certainly clear the killer cops of any responsibility, and both the city and province will continue to shovel money at the force.

The Special Economic Zones Act, 2025 "grants Ontario virtually unlimited power to provide any proponent or business with the ability to conduct any activity it wants, in any area of the province the government chooses, without any regulatory oversight." This is startlingly retrograde legislation.
