Keep me posted if you see anything relevant - especially related to tech policy and strategy work around civilian drones, aid, investigating war crimes, and remote sensing. (I’m more of a policy/research wonk than anything else, but I can wear many hats and have a lot of technical experience).

Faine Greenwood@faineg.com

Related: I’m still looking for leads and help on jobs, fellowships, and freelance contracts on drones, GIS, aid, disaster, OSINT, tech ethics, and journalism. I simply will not work for evil people and/or weapons manufacturers, which is also why I haven’t had paying work since Trump 2.0 began.

In a time of rising antisemitism, we could use an organization dedicated to opposing it. Instead we have the ADL, which shrugs at Sieg Heils and anti-Jewish slurs at the top levels of govt to fixate on this. I grew up a few miles from Brighton Beach, and we called the area "Russian," not "Jewish."

Sam@samd.bsky.social

Look, at the end of the day, America is fundamentally too large and chaotic (geographically, socially, religiously, politically) to be governable. That rowdiness is one of our greatest headaches, but arguably, it's what's saved our asses from the worst possible outcomes in the last decade.

A reminder, because it is almost that time of year: More children are killed by cars on Halloween than any other day of the year, by far. www.vox.com/future-perfe... If you're a parent, I hope you'll do what you can to keep kids safe. If you're driving on Saturday, PLEASE exercise extra caution.

I didn't initially realise this was meant to be a negative thing, but when you read the piece it obviously was. In fact I will say the Earnest and Pious Charismatic Ethnic Minority political figure (AOC, Mamdani, El-Sayed) has been a pretty good bet for the American left so far, whereas the Disaffected Gruff White Guy Showcasing True Masculinity (Fetterman, Platner) has been a worse bet. Just an observation.
