I’m so sick of this completely made up thing that liberals are desperate to attach trans people to. No one is saying they’ll vote republican in these convos. The very reasonable threat is that if you’re anti trans we just won’t vote. You wouldn’t make this argument in regard to any other group.

It's well established that you, personally, will be safer if the Dem wins rather than the Rep. It isn't clear to trans people that will apply to them. So, given the level of betrayal that they've seen, why should they help you at their own expense? "You can burn too" is a legit response.

I'm going to try to do this cleanly. Today's right wing governments are networked to each other. Those networks are well-documented. You can read about them in books. Following the elections in one node of that network is good practice for understanding the U.S. node.

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.
