Just posted a bunch of stuff on my YT channel about my #GMTK Jam Entry, including a trailer, the soudntracks and a gameplay of it. It would be cool if you watched it. Links on the thread🧵 youtu.be/eLeCQdjUwfc #gamedev #pixelart #gamemaker

#GMTK Game Jam 2026 results! I got 370th ranking in Artwork, LET'S GO! I little bad on the Enjoyment category, but that is specially on me for making the game too hard with some unfair mechanics. Oh well, living and learning! crootr.itch.io/countdown-co... #gamedev #pixelart #indiegame

Well, it finally happened! After 9 years of Unity dominance, Godot was the most used game engine for GMTK Game Jam 2026 submissions. 🤖 Godot - 47% 🎮 Unity - 34% 🛠️GameMaker - 5% 🚀 Unreal Engine - 3% ✨ Other - 11%

IN THE END, I was able to release the game, but lacking a ton a stuff, like particles, props, details, a title screen and some sfx. But honestly speaking, I really like how this game turned out. I managed to make the most of it out of the time I had and it turned pretty amazing.

Now, if you want to, please go play Countdown Compass and help Crimson escape the Oblivion on it's 14 levels. I'd say it takes about 10 min max to finish the game. I'll be uploading the soundtrack later on my Youtube channel (if anyone is interested)

6) The final push was hell. I stayed late until 2AM of the 4th day to make some of the level's layouts (without the tileset mind you) and discovered (and fixed) a ton of unwanted bugs that would turn the game unplayable.

7) I was only able to release the Countdown Compass because the submission time was extended for 1 hour, because otherwise I would not have made it. Afterwards, I started enhancing the Itch page. Here's a clip of me doing something very cool completly intentionally.

4) During the 2nd day, I also added the compass overlay, a screen transition and changed the font to Pixel Operator (It would later be changed for Silver, but stayed Pixel Operator for the Level Transitions)

5) Then during the 3rd Day, I made the 3 songs that I use on the game, some sfx (with my voice) to use on the player, made a very detailed opening cave (the levels ended not being as detailed due to time) and use Game Maker's Filters to add this Glow effect.

2) I then made this concept, on Aseprite, to concept how I wanted the game to look like. The idea was for the player to see the game though the titular compass' glass. I also managed to get the general idea for the artstyle of the game.

3) I took then some time to work on some sprites for the game. Most of the sprites, tileset and elements, like the Walljump and change of the distance (from pixels to meters) was made on the 2nd day.

1) Took me about 5 hours to come up with the concept. "Count Down the distance of the player to its goal, and don't let it Count Up again." It was about 9 PM, and it took me about an hour or so to make a prototype. I liked the idea, and decided to go through with it.

I've been working on my entry for the #GMTK 2026. Probably won't finish in time though #gamedev #gamemaker #pixelart #GMTK2026

Honestly, I don't blame ya

I know people are upset with my response, which is fine, but I kind of just wanted to make a cartoon, & it's ended up being way more trouble than it's worth. I really just can't keep my heart in this thing anymore. It's gotten too much bigger than me, & I probably shouldn't be the figurehead of it.

Nice! for anyone wondering is this lil' dude right here. You'll be hearing from him in the next few months, I think.

Just for fun I drew @crootr.bsky.social's character from a game jam we're in

Just a heads up, prob gonna be gone for a bit and a while. As Exams are approaching, Dangerlings is being kind of a pain to optimize (I'm basically rewritting Fauxton3D to make it work) and I still wanna have time to take part in the Fireside Jam. So, that's all folks, for the next few weeks.

Video with commented audio! But Summarizing, I made the player in constant inclination, so it looks like a conventional top down game even when looking, you know... top down. And made the gaps in the Sprite Stacking less noticeable. The optimazation tho... #gamedev #gamemaker #screenshotsaturday

Shoutout to Fauxton3D by Gizmo199 and @gamemaker.io's 2D to 3D tutorial. I've been frankstein-ing my way to a 3D camera and, again, I still don't fully understand it, but i was able to achieve the initial effect I was looking for. #gamemaker #gamedev

🇧🇷 Finalmente criei minha primeira shader, uma shader the outline. Antes eu literalmente usava um modelo pouco maior como outline. 🇺🇸 Successfully created my first shader, an outline shader. Before it literally used a slightly bigger model as its outlines. #gamemaker #gamedev

Estou resetando um projecto antigo. Esse teste foi só para rever o código datado do Sprite Stacking e da Câmera Ortogonal em ação. This is a reset on a old project. This test was just to see the old Sprite Stacking and Ortho Camera code in action. #gamemaker #gamedev

I've been working on a jam game to submit to #ctrlaltjam and #brackeys game jams, but I don't think I'll be able to finish in time #gamemaker #indiegame #gamedev #pixelart

I have made some more progress on the boss, I have a dash attack and a projectile attack which both deal damage. The boss can also take damage from it's head and die. Let me know any thoughts you have on the progress :) #gamedev #indiedev #godot #pixelart

Hey #screenshotsaturday this is my #rpg I am working on. It was a 2d game but now moved to 3d. The past little while I have been working on movement and how the player interacts with the world. #gamedev #indiedev #pixelart #lowpoly #b3d #indiegamedev

Final Looploop gamedev update Looploop is nearly done. I've just been mushing the last few minor bugs and tweaks, there really isnt much to report on. I now have key art thanks to Frey426, it turned out super good! 5 days until Looploop its genuinely baffling to think about actually being done :D

Have been working a lot more on the game. I added sliding, Super Jumping, Super Sliding, Shooting, basic enemy types and yesterday I added these collectable that don't do anything, yet. #gamemaker #indiegame

I've been slowly coming back to Game Dev. I'm trying to achieve a Top-Down Platformer control scheme along with my Sprite Stacked models in Game Maker. #gamedev #indiegame #screenshotsaturday

I've done some optimisation for my game world, to make it easier on my laptop during development 😅 I've done some object pooling on the tiles, so that I'm rarely ever loading new ones, and I made it so chunks can be loaded in segments, so they don't render when not needed #godot #gamedev #indiedev

I would like to say that all base systems for Danger Zone: Mark are complete. And now I enter PHASE 2 of development. Which includes coding specifics (like enemies, skills, items and upgrades) And overhauling visuals, effects and game juice in general. #gamedev #dangerzonemark
