All because a MAGA candidate in a Republican district tried to out-MAGA the incumbent with the anti-immigrant idiocy. Politicians in Republican primaries have every incentive to push things as far right as imaginable and we're all going to suffer from it. Another problem with gerrymandering here.

It should be way bigger news that Trump effectively killed any attempt by foreign countries to build new factories in the United States with this idiotic ICE move. Just incalculable long term damage. Trump just killed his "build America" push www.wsj.com/world/asia/c...

The best obituary about Kirk, the standard against which others should be measured—and shamed if they fail to honestly grapple with the facts of Kirk's life. Unsurprisingly, Elizabeth has been inundated with threats for this, thus carrying on Kirk's legacy of hate, intimidation, and a worse future.

Terrific thread:

The right sets the terms of our political discourse in so many ways, one of which is the idea that there isn't enough "debate" and "free speech" on campus. We need to push back on this. The truth is (speaking for myself as a history prof), I don't really emphasize debate much in my classes/

It's often said he sounds terrible because he has spasmodic dysphonia but that's not the whole story. He's had that for decades but his voice used to be much better; the dumbass didn't "trust the experts" so stopped his approved Botox treatment that was working and got an unapproved useless implant.

RFK Jr: We need to stop trusting the experts... Trusting the experts is not a feature of science or democracy, it's a feature of religion and totalitarianism.

Another question: At a club with over 150 employees, how did Donald Trump know that a 15-year-old girl was no longer working in the spa? He said he knew when Epstein "stole" her. It's not like Donald is a man known for paying attention to every little detail.

Our beautiful president has taxed the poor, sent troops to stomp through playgrounds in California, opened up concentration camps, doubled the price of seemingly random goods for no discernible reason, and bombed a foreign country just to do it. And yet these ungrateful peasants are unhappy?

Deeply uninterested in hearing about what any AI has to say in response to any question, it’s like getting a parrot’s opinion but not fun because the parrot has the funny high-pitched voice and says things so quickly

Can you imagine the infantile, superficial, and profane Donald Trump talking about his faith in such an eloquent and heartfelt manner? They hate Stephen Colbert because he is an authentic version of what they pretend to be.

I've spent a lot of time thinking about this fascinating exchange Colbert had with Dua Lipa, when she asked him about the role his faith plays in his comedy.

Alternatively, if you are editing the videos before posting them, you can up the "gain" in the editing software. Premiere lets you do this easily in the "effects controls" panel. If that's not enough, you can also double the audio tracks to boost the volume. Hope it helps, - Video Editing Pro 2/2

"Christians" in Congress ignoring Jesus's command to not pray in public (Matthew 6:5-7) to beseech permission to ignore Jesus's command to give to the poor (Matthew 19:21) with their hideous Big Ugly Bill. These are not Christians. They are selfish scoundrels who only pretend to follow Jesus.

We should all be disgusted by the flood of anti-Muslim remarks spewed in the aftermath of Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the NYC mayoral primary — some blatant, others latent. Shame on the members of Congress who have engaged in such bigotry and anyone who doesn’t challenge it.

axios.comAttacks on Muslims flood mainstream after Mamdani winOpenly racist rhetoric has become normalized at the highest levels of American politics.

Meredith has always been a G, but it's still exceptionally weird and very refreshing hearing from a tech exec who can see through all of this AI bullshit for what it is at its foundation: a backdoor surveillance tool.

Worth a watch: Head of Signal, Meredith Whittaker, on so-called "agentic AI" and the difference between how it's described in the marketing and what access and control it would actually require to work as advertised.
