bsky.app/profile/gsoh... I always value Glen O'Hara's insights, so am excited to dig into this and in no way is reading about the politics of my youth an escape from the horrendous timeline we seem to be in.

The total lack of seriousness that UK elites show while facing an obvious pre-war/ grey war situation in most policy realms is atrocious. Small boats? Yeah whatever mate.

Finally set myself up a website for my practice. If you are curious about starting psychotherapy, or know of anyone in a similar position, please feel free to contact me. I specialise in body-based or somatic psychotherapy, that is therapy which incorporates the body and breath

I'm heavily influenced by Wilhelm Reich and am currently in a 4 year post grad training in Reichian psychotherapy. Please feel free to get in touch or link and share my details, thank you!

I'd ask all of you and @jcbslide.bsky.social to think about these questions: Can we know what’s true? Can we debate and decide fairly? Can we hold power accountable? If you answer "no" to those questions, then I'd argue you aren't living in a functional democracy, just a performance of one.

Still true: *Britain is a success story *Most of its cities are doing astonishingly well *Multiculturalism is popular *Mass immigration has not led to social disintegration *Nostalgia is increasingly weird *Britain is incredibly safe *Levels of social cohesion are high Don't let them gaslight you.

In case you're wondering, authoritarians use this strategy of escalation to manufacture crisis, provoke outrage, then use the reaction to justify repression. It’s not about restoring order, it's about creating a spectacle of chaos they can claim only they can control.

Ryan Goodman@rgoodlaw.bsky.social

Escalating to escalate. "Roughly 500 Marines based out of the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in California have been mobilized ... and will join the National Guard troops that were activated ... over the weekend without the consent of California’s governor or the city’s mayor."

"The basic truth in all teachings of mankind are alike and amount to only one common thing: To find your way to the thing you feel when you love dearly, or when you create, or when you build your home, or when you give birth to your children or when you look at the stars at night.” Wilhelm Reich.

Seriously, you probably need to listen to this, but it just doesn’t seem like a thing that you need to listen to. I think you should trust me. Just listen.

Every now and then it hits me that this isn’t just about 1 inhuman act or another, but a bigger picture. That the entire democratic experiment in America is falling apart in front of our eyes. It’s historic in that sense. Which then makes me wonder why all media stories aren’t framed this way.

Farage and Badenoch are very strongly plugged in to the new US power networks changing their country's track from a liberal to an authoritarian democracy. They will be watching the lessons, what can and can't be achieved to fundamentally alter state and society, extremely closely.

This is a really powerful piece that outlines clearly the apocalyptic fantasies of those in charge of the US and points to some strategies for resistance. Please read and share.

"We are convinced that the more people understand the extent to which the right has succumbed to the Armageddon complex, the more they will be willing to fight back, realizing that absolutely everything is now on the line." www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-i...

This is such a phenomenal read. What if sociopahic arms dealer met a fully functioning modern goetic magician, is the premise. "...with hilarious consequences!"

🧵 I want to follow up this earlier thread by examining why the USA finds itself in the state it does at the moment; the process of disordered discourse capturing state institutions and how it inevitably results in a slide towards authoritarianism, a process we're seeing unfold before our very eyes.

Eliot Higgins@eliothiggins.bsky.social

What we’re witnessing in America is what happens when disordered discourse captures a political party, then the state itself. The Republican Party was the first to fall - abandoning truth for conspiracy, ideology for grievance, and policy for performative outrage.

Let’s start with a critical point: Not all disordered discourse leads to institutional capture. Some narratives, like Flat Earth or Bigfoot conspiracies, remain fringe, self-contained, and irrelevant to policy. But others infiltrate formal institutions, and that’s where the danger escalates.

Wilhelm Reich on fascism, clear and resonant as a bell. From Reich’s 1942 book, The Function of the Orgasm, from a section of that book called "Fascistic Irrationalism." Translated by Theodore P. Wolfe pp. 236-238 (I'll confess, post idea stolen from Phillip Bennet on Facebook)

Bluesky esoteric book challenge. A book per day (it's okay to skip days if you're really busy), in no particular order, until you've shared ALL of the best occult books in your personal library. No explanations, no reviews, just covers!

If you see this quote with horror movie you love. Pretty much guarantee if you seen the below, you won't forget it - Zulawski's Possession.

Democracy isn’t just voting every few years-it’s about having a real say in decisions that shape our lives. When people feel unheard, frustration grows, and bad actors exploit it. Strengthening democracy means expanding civic engagement, from local initiatives to national policy.
