Me too, @nytimes.com. I'm a long time subscriber and I want to know.
As a separate issue, I'd like to know why I saw years of headlines about Biden's age and see nothing about Trump's clear dementia and mental and physical decline
i am inviting anyone from a legacy media organization to explain to me why the house judiciary dems report on trump’s epstein’s ties and multiple allegations of rape isn’t worthy of extensively reporting on. i’m serious. i want to understand.
“It looks dangerously like the construction of an internal spying agency...”
"It’s also a weapon that the government will likely use against not only undocumented immigrants, but everyone else, too. That includes political enemies, intelligence experts said...

Hope I'm just missing it, but I'm not hearing anything from you and your colleagues in congress about how rep Omar is being targeted. A unified chorus of anger and determination to fight for her is what I want to hear, plus investigations into the lying Musk and Melania did to immigrate to the US.
America's governors have a choice: administer decline under federal coercion, or build parallel capacity — health data walls, election defenses, and non-cooperation statutes — that make coercion expensive.
One of the Dem weaknesses is that we refuse to attack the MAGA base. Meanwhile they attack Dems as inherently evil people who might be demonic and whatever their corrupt politician is doing “Dems are worse”
all politics is performative
the performance communicates important things to voters
Not impeaching sends a clear message that both parties are totally cool with massive corruption in the executive branch
It's a really horrible thing to do
Might be worth mentioning his extremism and racism, and the ignorance and. incompetence he demonstrated during his disastrous tenure at DOGE. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/30/u...
"Musk spends....his free time fomenting violence and spreading the same hateful ideology that motivated some of the deadliest shootings and attacks ever to happen on American soil. It is that fact, and not the cars he builds or the rockets he launches, that ought to define his place in public life."
If today your excuse is "They don't have a House majority!"
next year your excuse will be "They don't have 67 seats in the Senate!"
There will always be excuses.
They have to start fighting for freedom and democracy. Now.

They are not acting. They are doing nothing. You make excuses for them. but after the mid-terms you'll just make different excuses for them.
We've seen this movie before. Pelosi won big in 2018, then immediately said "He's not worth impeaching" and let the massive crime spree continue.
What I don't understand is why US companies don't want Medicare for all. Providing, paying for, and dealing with health insurance is an enormous cost to US firms of all sizes. Seems like they would want that off their books to increase profits and free up money for investing in their businesses.
Loved this article. Great quotes from Henry Rollins. He's got the right perspective and attitude: Doing things out of love and appreciation, not because you want to make money.
Impossible to imagine today's billionaires saying anything like what he says.

Art and culture are “what you have to lose with an administration like this,” Rollins adds. “They hate science. They hate literacy. They hate women. They hate nonwhite people. They hate LGBTQ people. Those....groups, they make things that make life great. They want to eradicate it and erase it.”

“If you lose culture in your society, the society dies,” Rollins says. “If you lose your art museums and your galleries, all you have is thugs and fighting and people being mean. In times of trouble, art gives us the backbone to keep fighting. It gives you inspiration.”

“Of course Ian and I are going to work for free,” Rollins told me via Zoom. “No money was ever offered or asked for. I don’t want a dollar. I’ve got the bucks. Isn’t this what you spend money on?"

BREAKING NEWS (7/15) — The administration wants to destroy Chaco Canyon without consulting Tribal Nations. It’s an irreplaceable historic & cultural site with 4,700 archeological sites that could be lost to the bulldozers of oil & gas development
As someone who loves travel, I can't even imagine why you would do this. Part of the pleasure of travel is reading and learning about the country before you go, as part of the planning. Gen AI doesn't know what you, you specifically, like and enjoy.
Six out of 10 respondents to a survey in Japan on this year's summer holidays said they are relying on generative AI to make travel plans. 👉 ebx.sh/11iRbQ
Conservatives used to argue that if a popular movie encouraged courage and hope and celebrated family that that meant it was conservative and you should vote Republican. Now they argue that if a popular movie encourages courage and hope and celebrates family it is leftist propaganda.
people will say it's too soon to criticize enormously harmful people when they die.
maybe we should consider that it's too soon to praise them, given the suffering that they inflicted on so many?
Historian of Reconstruction here, thrilled to be a part of this Reconstruction podcast by President @barackobama.bsky.social and the History Channel. Check out the first episode see if you can recognize where we are: www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYke...
In my experience, the kind of professional women being derided as "HR ladies" are more intelligent, more competent, & more decent than any given 50 of the pissant manbabies out there deriding them to impress one another.
We don't ordinarily publish posts at [checks watch] 8:51 PM on a Friday night, but state constitutional law expert Quinn @yeargain.bsky.social has an outside-the-box idea for reversing the VA Supreme Court that is very much worth taking seriously:
Dems can simply lower the retirement age.
Still feel like "Musk and his crew of incels destroyed a bunch of stuff they didn't understand and thereby hastened the deaths of millions of children" did not get the public attention it warranted.
It's not hyperbole in the least to say Musk purchased a six-month shadow presidency for $280 million and used the power of that shadow presidency to 1. Steal the government’s data, 2. Permanently damage the state’s ability to regulate his businesses, and 3, kill non-white people.
“To say that President Trump is corrupt is to somehow understate the size, scope and magnitude of his corruption.
It is as if you were to describe a modern thermonuclear device as a ‘bomb.’ That is true enough, but it is not quite the truth. It does not capture the nature of the thing in full.”
"Perhaps sometime in the last 24 hours the AI was infected with some kind of woke computer virus because until today it had only struck legitimate targets, like girls’ schools in Iran or any kind of school in Gaza."
20 Republican Senators are all that are needed to convict Donald Trump in an impeachment trial. Hell, 20 Republicans could walk to the White House today and threaten to vote to convict, and Trump would stop this posturing. If you want Congress to "do something," start with them.
The oldest medical research facility in Iran, universities, elementary schools, hospitals and civilian bridges.
Does everyone see it?
We’re the terrorists.
A modest proposal: Absent congressional authorization, presidential uses of force amounting to war should automatically raise the top 3 tax brackets by 50%. You know, to pay for the war.
Average union soldier memoir: "at first I was like I signed up for this war, but is it really worth it? Then I saw the reality of chattel slavery and I had to be physically restrained from slaughtering every white southerner I encountered"

Adam Smith’s masterpiece is one of those rare classics that almost everyone knows about, but a very few have actually read.
It is fundamentally misunderstood — yet it's just as important today as it was in 1776. Let me explain. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/the-250th-anniversary-of-adam-smiths
They’re telling me a great empire will be destroyed if I attack Persia. Even the oracles who don’t like me very much, very nasty, they all said to me, “Sir, it’s one of the great empires, and it’ll be destroyed. And all because you attacked Persia.” That’s what they’re telling me.
