Just now seeing about Munya Chawawa's experiences in Chichester. As a regular visitor there, and someone who lives down the coast in Portsmouth, I'm very depressed about how people are being so bold with their bigotry. Fuck those guys.

theargus.co.ukActor describes 'abysmal racism and homophobia' he faced in ChichesterAn assault on a cast member of a play in Chichester was "just the tip of the iceberg" of the "racism, xenophobia and homophobia" the cast faced in the town, an actor has claimed.

Very interesting chat here. Good way to start on an otherwise gloomy morning.

The question is - do we need to have seen The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor before we see this? Despite owning the trilogy set I've yet to give the third part a go.

So we fly a pride flag in our front yard in a very conservative neighborhood and it’s been there for the last few years. Someone put this in our mailbox and my goodness…

Uhuh. My main fear is grabbing a cherry coke by mistake but how anyone drinks 'full fat' in 2026 boggles my mind.

lauren@lauren.rotatingsandwiches.com

accidentally grabbed a can of regular coke instead of coke zero and made it like 3 sips before i had to throw it out. it felt like finding a new undiscovered color and through that color i could see tiny cracks into the eldritch horrors of realms beyond

Still a weirdly long way off then I guess. All the people who missed out on Bone Temple are... well, they're missing out.

Bloody Disgusting@bloody-disgusting.com

What's the latest on 28 YEARS LATER: PART III? Danny Boyle tells Variety that it's going to happen. "Quite when I’m not sure, but there’s a script – a very good script by Alex Garland." "[It will have] a lot of Cillian Murphy in it."

Woops. Silly boys. Sure they won't do it again.

John Denham@jydenham.bsky.social

I do find odd that we all apparently enjoy the right to enter a hotel uninvited, go to the guest floors, knock on the doors of complete strangers on the grounds that they are not white - and yet not commit any offence.

Wish I had answers to all of this. Also wish our government had more of an interest in trying to provide some answers that don't involve promotion of further bigotry and barely contained violence.

Athena Kugblenu@athenakugblenu.bsky.social

you could stop all the small boats. then they would find another statistically spurious thing to protest about. the people paying and organising these louts are testing the state for permission to advance a white supremacist agenda. the state is failing miserably

Very excellently put. Someone print this out and slide it onto the desk of [insert arsehole powermonger here].

Jennie Kermode@jenniekermode.bsky.social

I've been thinking further about the recent 'rich people went insane during Covid'* thread, and discussing it with a few people, and I wonder if part of the problem is that most of today's billionaires don't know how to be rich. *I'm sure the OP meant 'during Covid lockdowns'. During Covid is now.

Ha. What a loser. Struggling to recall Stewart Lee's Liddle routine this afternoon. Maybe he'll stick it into his touring show.

Nicholas Pegg@nicholaspegg.bsky.social

Remembering that heartwarming occasion when a Durham University college principal tried to troll his own students by inviting his pal Rod Liddle to speak at a formal dinner, and when the students walked out, the principal had such a public hissy fit that he had to step back pending an investigation.

Not watched American Psycho in a while now but hopefully I can still enjoy that one. I mean, he *does* get brutally murdered. Sort of. Maybe.

Kayleigh Donaldson@ceilidhann.bsky.social

Sure, Jared Leto is a creep with multiple allegations to his name over the course of two decades, but you have to understand that he's also a mediocre actor who's a nightmare to work with and whose movies are critical flops that don't make money.

Fuck this. I had Jennifer's picture on my wall as a kid. Punk rock icon. Let's help a sister out.

Genuinely depressing. I'm currently doing a short online course and have had an assessment flagged as being AI written. It is nothing of the sort, thank you very much!

Summer Brennan@summerbrennan.bsky.social

I ran an absolutely 100% human, zero AI-involvement at any stage passage of my writing through an "AI detector," curious if it could really tell human from AI work, and it said my own writing was "84% AI written" then asked I wanted to pay to have it "humanized." So there's that to keep in mind.

Looking forward to Willow's lecture tomorrow. Not had enough David Lynch in my life lately but this is likely to prompt some rewatches.

Willow Catelyn Maclay@willowcatelyn.bsky.social

I am excited to announce that I am going to be hosting a lecture on David Lynch's "Evil Los Angeles Trilogy" (LOST HIGHWAY, MULHOLLAND DRIVE & INLAND EMPIRE) on June 21st. I hope that you'll be able to join me. www.finalgirlsberlin.com/2026/brainbi...

Getting a bit giddy in advance of the Garbage gig next week. Been a fan since day one and I love the new album as much as their first. Co-headlining with Skunk Anansie too, who I've not seen live since '95.

Pretty sure there's no option to buy an Inside the Actor's Studio DVD boxset but damn that would be a worthwhile investment.

As a historian, watching current events can help w/ interpretation Sometimes, people from hundreds of years ago did stuff that makes no rational sense from a modern, educated perspective Seeing people do similar idiotic things today helps me see that some people are just idiots
