THANK YOU KELOWNA! I am so grateful for the support you gave me today. Please know that I do not take this lightly, and I will do everything in my power to serve our community well, while sticking to the policy promises I’ve made throughout the course of the campaign.

Yep, just to add even more color for how bad this is—there are tons of American made vehicles that are basically only exported to Canada because they’re too expensive for most consumers in Mexico and too big for consumers in Europe/Asia. One of endless reasons it was dumb to start this trade war.

"U.S.-built vehicles accounted for 28.4% of new-vehicle sales in Canada during the first half of 2026, down sharply from 35.4% in the first half of 2025 and an average of ~40% in preceding years." Canadians aren't buying your stuff anymore. 🇨🇦

On municipal infrastructure, I look forward to working with the Province on: Bonded utility financing as a DCC replacement Re-legalizing split-rate property tax Along with direct funding requests for overdue items like the new transit yard and Highway 97 intersection fixes.

I hope that we will see progress made on reducing homelessness, reducing overdoses, and ensuring that residents feel safe in our communities. Figuring out how to reduce deficit to GDP while building these, and schools, and hospitals, is an incredible challenge.

If anyone happens to know how to do this visualization for Kelowna, I would be interested! @chriswalkercbc.bsky.social www.kelowna.ca/city-hall/ci...

The City of Vancouver released detailed election results today — and they show a story of Pete Fry becoming mayor by winning the north of the city. Fry's highest results were 80% at Britannia Community Centre and 73% at Mt. Pleasant Community Centre.

Anecdotally, the public attitude towards prescribed fires has shifted so far in favour that folks are specifically asking for prescribed fires in their neighbourhoods.

Not for nothing, but practically every polling station in the Kelowna mayoral race within the Kelowna Centre riding chose Tom Dyas, the centre-right option in the race, not Ron Cannan, the further right option. Downtown stations, UBCO, but crucially the Glenmore stations.

The only exceptions are Spring Valley, barely within boundaries, and Parkinson Rec, which is pretty much Kelowna's bellwether polling station. But got it wrong this time.

Vancouver voting for these questions overwhelmingly while electing a Green & Socialist council says a lot about where urban / core suburban voters are on the public safety file, and on the economics file. Huge lessons to take away from this.

Pretty simultaneously true that: People are feeling a greater economic pinch then ever and moving towards more radical options that they think will help make their lives more affordable. People are very tired of open drug use / disorder, and will vote for ways they think will make things better.

I think it’s worrying that the (relative) technocrats pretty convincingly lost the argument in Vancouver (OneCity) on things like upzoning, let alone cutting the cost to build. People are not looking for housing specifics as much as they are looking for… movement politics?

Another Vancouver thought: I've said regularly that political candidates who focus intensely on housing development and debating with people over zoning issues tend to do poorly with the public. Colleen Hardwick once against failed to expand her base. OneCity didn't grow. The truism holds.

Appending this to say: This election has been a change election, but it’s always a balance between momentum and inertia. I think myself, Indy, Kevin, Brady, Trevor, and Laura have some momentum. I think first-term councillors and incumbent trustees have inertia. Early results will be critical.

Calling my shot on the Kelowna election results. Not in any way my voting list or an endorsement. Mayor: Cannan. Tom Dyas made up ground, but not enough to win after starting down 2-1.

Did Rick Webber basically not running a campaign work like in 2022? How have trustee votes translated for Julia Fraser and Lee-Ann Tiede? How important was Fourchange and NOLC? Are councillors Dehart and Singh truly in trouble? Has social media alone translated into a winning campaign for Rogers?

A helpful reminder for Kelowna voters watching the polls tomorrow. It is far from unprecedented to see someone in fourth place at the start of the counting go on to lose. Kelowna has significant geographic disparity in votes. Something to keep in mind.

Just cast my Provincial ballot in Kelowna Mission! Hoping we can see real investment in Kelowna over the next four years to help with acute infrastructure deficits for transit, care facilities, addictions treatment, and more.

I’m (obviously) not saying we need the same solutions she proposed, very far from it, but BC really needs a Thatcher-like figure in the sense of a conviction politician unafraid to make bold moves for four years straight while not thinking about re-election.

That was an awful debate. Some ignored topics include smoke and fire prevention, climate change, and the fiscal cliff for transit funding. We got a lot of sniping, not a lot of substance, on the important issues. Not feeling better about the future of our province after watching that.

I’m not really convinced we have any plan for deficit reduction, the capital investment we need in infrastructure improvements, or real movement on the housing crisis. Most ideas pushed forward on housing / economics were net harmful, and deficit promises seem to be bigger & bigger from each.

Would not be surprised if Csek, Kraft, Thurnheer, Singh, Dehart, or MacAlleese win either. You can't count out an incumbent councillor, someone who nearly won before, a non-Kelowna elected official, or the guy who has knocked on the most doors. Anyone else would be a big upset.

I spent hours today at UBCO & OC meeting with students and staff outside of the 100m voting station buffer. I think people are ready for a change. Voter turnout is up, and people seem ready for a council that focuses on the cost of living, quality of life, and a safe / inclusive community.

Fuck...and I REALLY mean this...Doug Ford. What a disgrace. Protected bike lanes save lives, give a boost to local businesses, and allow children to get to school on their own. There is nothing fiscally conservative about this move. It's expensive populist nonsense intended to divide us.

Sean Marshall@seanyyz.bsky.social

In the end, the lanes come out.

Does anyone have a clear understanding as to why Canada won’t just end solar panel tariffs? Of course, protectionism, but subsidizing something we heavily tax seems obviously bad?!

There are 10,000 interesting things happening in local elections but one of them is someone running for Kelowna council who is the CEO of a company that oversees this YouTube page

Good afternoon. I recently became aware of an endorsement from the Kelowna Citizen’s Safety Association. I decline this endorsement. It was not solicited or sought.

Genuinely, the amount of racism that Mohini Singh is enduring this campaign is unbelievable. I condemn this kind of hate in the strongest of terms.
