I’d really appreciate shares of this 🙏 This was my mum’s home for 20 years. It’s a few minutes from the sea in beautiful Cromer in Norfolk. We really need to sell it. It’s in a retirement complex so over 55s. No buildings maintenance to worry about. www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/1...

I just checked why Brooklyn Beckham is trending. Somehow we've all sidestepped reality and we're living in endless soap opera subplots.

Hello lovely people, I need your help. We still haven’t found a buyer for Mum’s lovely retirement house near the sea in Cromer on Norfolk coast. It really is time someone else was making happy memories there. I’d really appreciate everyone sharing it widely 😁 www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/1...

I can barely process the Trump press conference I've just listened to. This is the kind of stuff you usually hear from dictators at the very heights of their delusions. Not elected leaders of superpowers.

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts. Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

I remember waking up in November 2016 and feeling that same sense of dread that history had shifted and we were locked into a trajectory that wouldn't end well

A reminder that the original Hallowe'en jack o' lanterns date back to 18th century Ireland if not earlier, were based on a shady boozy blacksmith called Stingy Jack who cheated the devil & was trapped between 2 worlds, were carved from turnips and looked like this:

German media seems to be taking more seriously than ours the fact a leading light in the party UK press keeps saying will be next government took bribes from Russia to spout their lies. Maybe it’s because they put NEWS ahead of propaganda

Could we please stop pretending that the flags being hung from streetlamps or painted on roundabouts are innocent expressions of patriotic pride? This is the far right marking out its territory. It uses these flags to intimidate its traditional victims and opponents. 🧵1/3

What utter dickheads we are… Rayner fought for workers: sick pay, maternity rights, protection from unfair dismissal Farage and his MPs voted it down Rayner gets binned over £40k in stamp duty Farage dodges £44k, shrugs & strolls on The mega wealthy win again.

Angela Rayner accidentally pays less tax than she should have, resigns, and the media gives her hell. Nigel Farage deliberately pays less tax than he should have, and the media gives him a free pass. That, right there, is the problem.

Right wing media has had it in for Angela Rayner from the start - they couldn’t bear a working class woman being so powerful & dynamic. She made a mistake and has paid heavily for it. Very much hope she’ll return at some point in the future - our politics desperately needs more voices like hers

Debra Myhill as always is superb here on writing and the teaching of writing! Her critique of the DfE Writing Framework is absolutely spot on, including its very poor use of research on writing. @beckyfrancis.bsky.social

"There is a sense of cherry picking - of choosing research that already supports the way they want to present the framework" Primary writing expert prof Debra Myhill tells @tesmagazine.bsky.social why the DfE primary writing framework is 'problematic' www.tes.com/magazine/tea...

Not sure what's going to give up first: knees, lungs or heart. Hiking after long Covid is a little humbling. But survived another hill walk and now doing a slow wander around Raglan Castle

Beautiful, relaxing morning at Tintern Abbey after the stress of A-Level results yesterday. Proud of what my lovely Y13 Lit students achieved despite huge setbacks. Proud of myself for achieving so much in a year. Tintern Abbey reminds me of my first ever A-Level class of 2002.

Finally read Kafka on the Shore. Not sure exactly how to feel about it. Astonishing. Moving. Problematic. Possibly one of the most thoughtful-provoking books I've ever read.

Can't ignore the problematic presentation of women. And the constant references to penises is a little grating. But wow what an astonishing novel.

Ironically, Nice was the last place I ever flew to. Incident with circling endlessly on approach to Nice and something going wrong (we were never told what). Haven't flown on a plane since 😬

GCSE Eng marking finally done. It's time for my annual epic train journey. South of France this year. Train to London for overnight stay at Kings Cross, ready for early Eurostar tomorrow.

Eurostar done. Rushed across Paris on RER. Packed like sardines on the metro (probs with trespassers on line) but made it in time to Gare de Lyon. Now just 5 hours to Nice 🙂

The fact that the President of the United States posts a fake video of a kneeling Barack Obama being handcuffed and we’re supposed to pretend it’s perfectly normal, everyday stuff shows exactly what is terribly wrong with today’s political mainstream media.
