@deacongreg.bsky.social spent 25 years as a writer at CBS News. I got to know him back in the halcyon days of early blogging circa 2009. In this episode of @deaconspod.bsky.social, he speaks with @deaconmike.bsky.social and Deacon Mike Berstene about Pope Leo, being a cancer survivor, and more:

"You never know how God is going to work – and the way he is going to use you," says Deacon Greg Kandra. "Every moment of your life is formation." @deacongreg.bsky.social is our guest on this brand new episode of @deaconspod.bsky.social hosted by @deaconmike.bsky.social and Deacon Mike Berstene:

Say the word and you'll be free Say the word and be like me Say the word I'm thinking of Have you heard the word is love? It's so fine, it's sunshine It's the word, love In the beginning I misunderstood But now I've got it, the word is good The Beatles I approve this message.

Kathryn Muensterman has written an important essay in @commonwealmagazine.org and we had a great conversation about “From Summit to Source”. What is your response to the Eucharist? What is our response to the presence of Christ in our lives?

Had a lovely conversation with Kathryn Muensterman about her recent @commonwealmagazine.org article on the Eucharist, "From Summit to Source," with Paulist Deacon Affiliate @deacondrew.bsky.social that I think you, too, will find enriching. megaphone.link/SM2658118769

This seems like, and I admit, most likely is, an inhospitable thing to say, but why do people set themselves up on the beach 15 feet away when they have a whole beach. In front of me. Please feel free to tell me all that’s wrong with me.

Thank you Mollie! And if you’re a fan of @mollieoreilly.bsky.social like we are, you can hear her on Episode 79 of @deaconspod.bsky.social where she gives great advice on, among other things, staying Catholic.

This is a must-listen for anyone who wants to know more about what happens to people detained by ICE (and the families they're taken from), and what's happening at Delaney Hall in NJ now. Susan's perspective here is grounded in a year of direct ministry experience, and the clarity of the Gospel.

Acts: “Stephen said to the people, the elders, and the scribes: “You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always oppose the Holy Spirit; you are just like your ancestors.” If I spoke to my congregation like this, someone might throw fruit at me. But I doubt they would stone me

And I would suggest that none of us are exempt from finding ourselves in Hell if we refuse to repent and obey the commandment to love. If you’re not afraid of The Hague, at least consider your own soul. If you have one.

In a piece published by Religion News Service, Pax Christi USA Bishop President John Stowe joins other faith leaders in condemning violent rhetoric expressed by the president this week. The US, Bishop Stowe reminds us, is not exempt from restrictions on war crimes. paxchristiusa.org/2026/04/09/b...

I’m embarrassed to admit that I never really explored Caiaphus’ role in our salvation as told by the Gospel of John in today’s Gospel. Perhaps his motivation was wrong, but like Judas, he seems to be a feature of God’s plan for us. What does that really say about Caiaphus? What do you think?

Not fast enough. And not hard enough. But it’s cracking. It will fall. And while we believe in forgiveness and reconciliation, many of those who foolishly enabled this do not, despite their claims that they do. And as they suffer because of the fall, they will turn upon each other.

I am so grateful for this chance to talk to my beloved friends, the Paulist deacons, about my book, the #AccessorizedBible

We interview our own David Dault @daultradio.bsky.social, who has been recording and editing us since the beginning of our podcast. He’s so much more than our recording engineer: he’s a theologian, a professor, an author, a husband, a father and a great friend. Check out his book and our interview.

How do we react when the Bible become an "accessory" to crimes of violence? That's just one of the questions in today's episode of @deaconspod.bsky.social in which the Paulist Deacon Affiliates interview @daultradio.bsky.social about his book "The Accessorized Bible" from @yalepress.bsky.social:

Has there ever been anyone in the Trump administration who ever really mattered to Trump? Sycophants never learn. It’s a form of narcissism.

The Atlantic@theatlantic.com

J. D. Vance “entered the White House as a man full of ideas,” Idrees Kalhoon argues—but “within the Trump administration, Vance’s opinions seem to matter less and less.”

You don’t have to be a republican or a democrat to be against war. You just have to be a person who is against war. It helps if you can see humanity in the stranger. War is not the language of a person who loves.

As we leave Black History Month, I have that (too frequent) disgust bubbling up at those who would whitewash our history and push back on the idea that our freedoms as a nation must be seen in light of our national and local efforts to restrict those freedoms on the basis of color.

Feb 12 Scripture Solomon began extremely well but he lost God's favor (1 kgs 11:4-13) because of his infidelity to the Covenant. As a result, the kingdom was divided into two. Sin and evil are not merely private choices. Even our most private sins affect our families, our church, and our community.

I hope you get a chance to listen to this conversation with Becky. I know I found her inspiring!
