The problem with the Tories and Reform is that Britain is so diverse that there's no minority they can scapegoat that doesn't include one of their own politicians

Genuinely slightly worried that my cooking that includes spices might murder my wife's 90-year-old grandma the same way SOPHIE — Ponyboy canonically killed Prince Charles

This is the most ruthless act of union busting in the history of the UK games industry. Yesterday, @rockstargames.com unfairly fired over 30 employees for union activity. We won't back down, and we're not scared - we will fight for every member to be reinstated.

BREAKING: Yesterday Grand Theft Auto VI maker Rockstar Games fired dozens of people, all of whom were involved in union efforts. A British union calls it "blatant and ruthless" union-busting. Take-Two Interactive says it was due to misconduct. Here's the scoop: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Lmao dude no it fucking isn't. You've invented a barely functional input-output device, not a nuke. It doesn't know anything and poses zero threat to humanity. The only threat posed is the investors buying into your snake oil

I'm sat in this jazz bar me and my wife like. On stages comes a band of 17 different guys. They don't even fit in stage. They just played "Ain't That a Kick in The Head" followed by "Blue Moon", so I think I have an idea of these nerds' taste in videogames

Hot take: While pollsters still put Trump's approval surprisingly high, the class of white middle class median voter *who actually turns out to vote* has completely lost faith in the Republicans.

Wisconsin called for Susan Crawford! As always any bad day for Elon Musk is a good day.

A common practice from game companies when they discriminate against workers and the worker files a grievance is to double down. The companies claim the worker is under performing and will be disciplined, they force them into office, and they isolate them. Then they offer the worker a settlement.

Okay I'm actually gonna do a bit of an essay here about why I thought 2077 was so good.

I find all the endings to be really good in that there's no 100% positive ending. Even in the "good" endings, V's fate is kinda ambiguous. Personally, I love it. To me it says "You've got this character where they need to go, now they're their own person."

Throughout the story, the things that stand out to me aren't how cruel the world is, but the kindness and sense of community that exists *despite* the cruelty. The way Viktor keeps V alive because he is ultimately their friend. How Mama Welles puts V up, how Misty checks in on them.

V has a massive impact on the world, but they don't change its nature. It's still cyberpunk. It's still a dying world ruled by corporate greed. It isn't about ending that. It's about finding joy and meaning in such a world.

If you're worried about AI destroying the games industry, remember that literally everything that investors said about Web3 and crypto games was total shite. So when you see a slick person confidently saying that AI is the future of games, remember they said that about Cloud gaming, Metaverse, Web3.

The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.

A lot of game designers get suuuper academic about it. There's loads of very complex philosophy discussed. Which, imo, puts a lot of potential students off. Truth is, it effectively boils down to identifying problems before they happen and trying to solve them.

When I came into the industry, I was expecting it to be like academia. Lots of deliberations about Possibility Space and Ludonarratives. In reality, it's just a lot of "what happens in this edge case?", coming up with something and hoping for the best

Experience comes with doing that a lot and learning the small things from the results of decisions. There's a knack to it, and not everyone has it. But contrary to what it looks like on the outside, it's a lot simpler than it looks!
