I think the lesson from Lula is not never talk about the opposition; it's articulate a positive vision that's basically, We Can Just Do Things. That's why Mamdani-ism is so popular - voters have an intrinsic sense that their electeds have agency they're not using

Apparently, some Houston voters are putting their I Voted stickers on the Lorenzo Salgado Araujo memorial. Stephen Miller is ALREADY trying to scapegoat others for losing whatever races they lose in Texas and elsewhere. This is a vivid testament that for some voters, his murder squad is the reason.

So sick of this thieving, traitorous, corrupt warlord. Nov. 3rd can’t come soon enough, nor Nov. 7, 2028 after that. #Nuremberg2.0 #ExpandSCOTUS

This is literally the end of the rule of law. If a President can pardon people committing crimes on his behalf - and the Supreme Court says he himself can't be prosecuted for crimes committed as part of his job - then the government becomes a lawless entity able to violate our rights without limit.

This story just keeps on getting more grotesque. #AmyActon

Clara Jeffery@clarajeffery.bsky.social

The Ramaswamy campaign not only tried to capitalize on a child rape victim, they did it by using an old homeless woman who—while vile—is in no mental shape to adequately understand the stakes. And did they pay her? Either answer is bad.

GREAT explainer on how the US democracy works. Don’t like it? Work our asses off IN THE PRIMARIES to elect like-minded folks (cf Mamdani, Raskin, etc.). Our one job now is to excise the fascist MAGA powerhold so we can begin to right the destruction Trump et al have wrought. #NoFascistUSA

The question's not whether Musk or Trump are responsible for hobbling Starlink; they both are. The cooperative scheme, by the National Socialist Regime and one of its oligarchical clients, to aid Russia's attempt to snuff out a European democracy is a measure of how rotted our government has become.

Republican lawmakers are incensed about Trump's dismissal of Ukraine — and powerless to stop him. That frustration hit a new peak on Monday as they sought to address Trump’s decision to purchase Russian diesel, waive sanctions on Moscow, and potentially stop sharing intelligence with Ukraine.

Healy defended the NYT’s hesitancy to use the word “lie” in Trump coverage. He said frequent use of the word would change “the people’s sense of our own fairness” and ”lose the potency of the word itself.” “So you’re saying you want to retain the potency of the word ‘lie’ by not using it?” I asked.

Today would be a good day for top editors in our major news organizations to call a meeting to announce to their staff that yes, this is fascism, and they should report and write accordingly. From August 2024: presswatchers.org/2025/08/we-h...

This is, what, the third constitutional crisis today? https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2026/10/12/judge-blocks-trump-administration-airing-taxpayer-funded-campaign-style-ads/

Key quote for these times: “Identifying where the actual radicalism in American politics lies at this moment is important.” It’d be nice if US media were up to the task. E.g., the illegal DOJ raid on Omar’s home is treated as a legit crime story rather than her being the victim of a vindictive AG.

Call Riverbend Tree Service, the folks who cut down 430+ trees against court order. 703-420-5562. As Skye Perryman, Pres. of Democracy Forward said, "We shouldn't normalize the fact that the DoJ...led by the president's AG is literally playing 'Catch Me If You Can' justice." Tell them NO MORE!

Trump lawlessness THIS WEEK: - DOJ/HSI raid on US Rep. Omar - Sanctions on ICCC - ICE killings/shootings - Probing TV networks for pool coverage stoppage - Destroyed 400+ trees against court order - Cont. to air taxpayer-funded ads against court order - Cont. to bribe voters IF GOP wins 11/3

This is all pure gold. Especially: “a very powerful man is explaining to a camera that the prize is rigged, that we're corrupt, that he'll win it next year, and he genuinely might, we're only five idiots and we've been wrong before, Kissinger is still on the wall.” #TrumpWarmonger

Judge Reyes: “I said [to the plaintiff ], the Government won't lie. And now they did.” Trump bulldozed 500 trees he was specifically ordered not to, to create an uglier golf course in his image. Judge Reyes, the ball is in your court. Permanent injunction, sanctions, jail time, disbarment. LFG!

Inner City Press@innercitypress.bsky.social

AUSA: I don't think there was a conscious decision not to tell the court- Judge Reyes: There WAS a conscious decision! You didn't tell the court. Do you know why I am furious right now? The plaintiffs said this could happen and I said, I trust the government

Major media’s weak responses to Trump’s abuses encourage even more abuses. I wrote about that a couple weeks ago in my Stop the Presses newsletter (which you should subscribe to).

Trump is supporting Russia, who is arming Iran to kill US troops in a war he started and refuses to end, instead of a US ally, to whom Congress has committed military aid and support. Pretty sure this qualifies as high treason.
