Things I heard today: Defending the Japanese interment camps. Trail of Tears was okay since it was only 60,000 people. (Not enough people affected to really be bad) Crimes are happening because of the declining [white] birthrates. Me saying the word "fuck" is somehow more offensive.

My Library has a current events club and I hate that when a certain guy is moderator, racism, transphobia, and hate speach are okay. But I am out of line because I use *gasp* swear words when the room becomes a hate speach rally and no one else seems to resist.

It was weird talking to people twice my age not understanding technology can be designed to work without an internet connection. A car, TV, fridge, doesn't *need* to connect to the internet. I expect that from someone half my age, not from someone who still uses an AOL email.

Oh wait. Its August that means Ive been on Linux for a whole year now! ... Honestly I still feel a bit nubish with it, but hey. Its been working :D

As much as I like the Steam Controller's hardware. I can't stand it's software. God damn it Valve why the hell do I have to go into Big Picture Mode to adjust *anything*. I love using a UI made for controllers, to adjust how the controller work - Live! Like performing brain surgery on one own self.

Saw an old friend today, filled me with smiles seeing her after so many years. Also got to touch Quark's abs without having to pay a few bars of Gold-Pressed Latinum.

I GOT THE DOMAIN! I FINALLY GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!1 🥳🎉 Paint.NET is now at paint.net! Well, it will be just as soon as I push all the buttons to migrate content and set up redirects from getpaint.net etc. For now it's just a "hey go here" redirect page.

Just learned from a reddit post a friend sent that Alex Cimo passed away. Absolutely fucking gutted man. Progression series and History of YuGiOh got me through so much of covid when I was most isolated and just jamming edopro lobbies constantly if not working or drunk.

Things the Tech industry thinks will excite me: "AI Agents that will do all the things you like to do, for you! And do it badly!" Things that actually excite me: "KDE Connect lets you use your phone as a keyboard & trackpad when you are playing on your TV."

If I had a nickle for every Canadian Youtuber who became convinced that a certain piece of software was going to become revolutionary, changing their respective industries, despite the rather small scope the companies behind them seem to actually have. I'd have two nickles.

this was HR 2616 which also bans books by or about trans and nonbinary people from schools START CALLING YOUR SENATORS NOW CIS FRIENDS TRANS KIDS NEED YOU

ACLU@aclu.org

BREAKING: The House of Representatives just voted to require teachers to forcibly out transgender youth against their will. Censoring "gender ideology" does nothing to advance the basic promise that every child deserves the same opportunity to thrive, and that includes transgender students.

Riding my bike around the neighborhood I learned one of my neighbors now owns a Cybertruck. The house is grayer then a McDonalds, but their Cybertruck is baby blue. 😐

NYTimes: "I reject reality and subsitute my own."

NYTimes Communications@nytimespr.bsky.social

The New York Times’s body of reporting on the American Medical Association’s stance on gender-related care for minors is accurate and factual, and remains so despite the recent statement from the Chair of the A.M.A. Board, which contradicts the A.M.A.’s own statements. www.nytco.com/press/fact-c...

Wont let me share? Anyways What's My JND? 0.0021 At that point it really is a test of your monitor's abilities, it's calibration, and it's physical condition. Some screens were easy on one monitor but impossible on another.

Well fuck me. So I found out the problem with my PC was the PSU. - It was still under warranty! Corsair sent me a updated one and... Audio is messing up, and thats when I learned Corsair PSUs no longer have a -12V rail. Apparently ASUS Mobos used to use that for their audio amplifiers.

Month later, problem came back up. Always happened when loading into a game like FFXIV or Vintage Story... Oh a whim I swapped to a backup PSU that doesn't fit into my case, and is a lower Wattage. ... Problem goes away. Well then. (wonder if warranty will apply >_> )

Nevermind spent all day playing no problems. Now I can't load FFXIV without getting the error again... Anyone have any ideas?

Rebecca was one of the founders of Interplay, worked as a programmer on companies like EA, Microsoft and Ubisoft, helped building the PSP and PS4 operating systems and won the 1980 National Space Invaders Championship! RIP to one of the greatest :(

Saw the Running Man. Okayish popcorn movie, but just felt... Anachronistic? Like the story and theming is straight out of the 80s, but the setting is a 2020s Scifi with little to no concessions to account for this which just kinda clashes in a lot of weird ways.

Past few days my PC has been crashing when I load games. MCE error said its the CPU's Cache. (Ive heard of some problems with newer gen x3D chips) Ran Memtest86 for 10 Hours - PASS no errors. Adjusted stuff in BIOS - no luck I swap CPUs. - no luck ... I reseat the RAM. - Everything is fixed.

Last I checked my old VHS tapes don't work on BluRay players. Out of the box DVDs or BluRays don't work with modern PCs. You always have to work to keep older media compatible on newer hardware. Some will be more difficult then others. ... Specially when you are the one making it more difficult.

I'm a sucker for Gameboy stuff, and when I saw this Lego Gameboy at Costco, I had to grab it... Fun build. I love the little details like how the inside of the carts mimics the board ROM chips, and how Zelda has a battery, the 'Silicone' under the buttons is the correct color. exc exc. #blutoid

You know what? I'm kinda sad that Konami never continued the "Duel Monsters" format some of the early YuGiOh! games had (Dark Duel Stories, Sacred Cards, Reshef of Destruction). It is weird, and a bit unbalanced, but its just kinda fun? Much better suited for a RPG vs the actual card game.

I was trying to figure out where that "LG discontinued disc drives" story came from, and it was a youtube video where the evidence was that he spoke to LG's *LLM support bot* and treated its response as an official company statement?????

If there is one thing I do miss from Windows... Its Paint(dot)Net. Linux just... doesn't have a good middle tier image editor. Like Gimp and Kitra are your Photoshop, Clip Studio alts. if you want something simpler Koulour Paint! - Its WinXP MS Paint! Including the lack of Layers or transparencies!

I can't help but feel a lot of the aversion to "Light Mode" is that light mode tends to have way more 'Pure white' then UI designs in the past. But also, modern "Dark Modes" tend to be much darker. Both of which isn't helped by modern displays being both brighter, and having better contrast.
