China is absolutely dominant when it comes to renewables. People do not understand the implications of this long term. Cheap power equals: - Cheaper manufacturing - Cheaper transport - Lower cost of living With AI + robotics, these advantages go 10x. Imagine robots producing cars with 0 cost solar

Ember@ember-energy.org

#China is forecasted to install 66% of the world’s solar capacity and 69% of wind capacity in 2025. This would be the third consecutive year that 🇨🇳 added more solar and wind than the rest of the world. ember-energy.org/lat...

Here’s what I got. Gemini just directed me to the Brittanica webpage

Geoff Green@geoffgreen.org

I've seen this on Bluesky and had to try it myself. The image below was the response to the prompt: "Show me a diagram of the US presidents since Herbert Hoover, with their names and years in office under their photos" Bravo, OpenAI, bravo.

Would be REALLY cool to see a Democrat do anything remotely similar to this. But for now I guess we get strongly written letters as Democracy falls… But hey, at least we still have our norms? Right @schumer.senate.gov

Raider@iwillnotbesilenced.bsky.social

A member of Taiwan's parliament stole a bill and ran off with it to prevent it from being passed

It’s amazing to see the energy and excitement for the #NoKings parade yesterday! But the real question is, what’s next? Will Congress do anything? Will the courts stand up to Trump? Or will it be more of the same

What are Republicans even trying to do now? Trump coin, Tax cuts, Qatari jet, etc. all make sense -> they’re just getting richer. Kidnapping kids from schools, banning vaccines, etc. -> what’s the point? How does this benefit them? Are they just trying to be the worst humans on the planet?

Finally some good news! The Trump-Musk relationship was bound to break up eventually, you can’t put 2 egomaniacs together and expect it to last forever. Candidly, I’m surprised it lasted this long

Let's fucking gooooooooo

Peak fossil car is behind us, cleaner air and quieter streets ahead! (Hopefully peak car is behind us too but I’m not so sure)

Jan Rosenow@janrosenow.bsky.social

The end of the internal combustion engine? Global sales of petrol and diesel cars peaked in 2017/18 and are now falling. The shift to electric and low-carbon transport is well underway—and EV sales are rising fast.

I’m in Barcelona and wow this place is incredible. The bike lanes, buses, super villes just incredible design. Everything is convenient and safe with no almost no cars. They too inefficient. @volts.wtf is 100% right. If we brought this to SF I’d cry tears of joy.

Oops almost no cars. They are too inefficient.* Every urban planner should do a case study on this city. It’s simply designed for humans. Not cars. Which is a radical thing in city planning apparently

Incredible that 77M people voted for Trump. Only about 1% of households make this much. At least 76M people voted against their self interest because they hate others (immigrants, women, LGBTQ, China, etc.) more than like themselves. Truly astounding folks

I can't top this one.

Corruption requires explict quid pro quo. It is not corrupt to take an action that aligns with the interest of a person who gives you a gift, unless the official action was in direct response to that gift--a bribe. Terms matter. Accuracy and fairness matters. Regardless of what social media wants.

This x1000. Impossible to make a 20 year, $M+ investment when I have 0 clue what anything will ever cost.

Hamilton Nolan@hamiltonnolan.bsky.social

okay now that you all have gotten a taste of America's rational and predictable new trade policy, everyone who wants to build your new factories here just form an orderly line

Markets jumped 10%+ today because tariffs were paused. This makes 0 sense. Trump’s tariff game = enormous volatility. When running a business, reducing risk is a top priority. How do I know where to invest if my costs might jump 30% tomorrow? Fundamentals are severely damaged by the Trump admin

What incredible progress!

What would have happened to Tesla if they hadn’t gotten $465M loan from the LPO in 2010? You know, the place that just let all of their employees go because they “don’t serve the public interest”

This is absolutely wild. Unless something huge comes out about Luka…this has to be one of the dumbest trades I’ve ever seen. Luke is a perennial MVP candidate at 25…

The Athletic@theathletic.com

BREAKING: The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired Luka Doncic, sources confirm to The Athletic. LA is sending Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a 2029 first-round pick to the Mavericks for Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris in a three-team deal involving the Jazz.

I read @nathanielbullard.com’s presentation tonight and here are my 3 top takeaways - 1.5C is unfortunately dead but 2.0 is still alive and every .1 degrees matter - History will either look back at 2021 and say “that was the year it all started” or “that was another fall start” (1/2)

Nat Bullard@nathanielbullard.com

My annual decarbonization presentation is here. 200 slides, covering everything from water levels in Lake Gatún to sulfur dioxide emissions to ESG fund flows to Chinese auto exports to artificial intelligence. www.nathanielbullard.com/presentations

- Story of the first bullet point will be China, China, China; they are dominant in every clean technology and whether we limit warming to 2.0 or not is dependent on how far they can go (2/2)

In 2016 I wrote one of my college essays for Claremont McKenna about Elon Musk and how he would be the person I choose to come speak to us students. Ya’ll I was so wrong. I’m sorry. I own this one.

In a world full of Elons and Zucks, be Mark Cuban

Speaking of healthcare. Let's make @bsky.app the platform that fights misinformation. Some great follows are @drsusanoliver.bsky.social @jsm2334.bsky.social @therealtruther.bsky.social Let's get them more followers and engagement than other platforms and let health science accounts find a home

We sacrifice so much for the “convenience” of cars it’s crazy: - 44K yearly deaths - ~15% of CO2 - Insane amounts of particulate matter from tires and brakes - Traffic related stress - Emissions from constructing highways everywhere - Health from less walking All to create less habitable cities…

This is why I got into climate. The impacts climate change has on insurance and housing will be one of the first major dominos to fall in a world with uncontrolled warming. Still early innings.

‘That is how the cascading failures begin: uninsurable property is unmortgageable, and unmortgageable property loses much of its value...As we saw in 2008, a crash in property values quickly becomes an economy-wide meltdown' news.bloomberglaw.com/insurance/lo...

The pictures coming from LA are terrifying, I can’t imagine still living there. Unfortunately not enough people see the link between emissions & these wildfires.

ashley fairbanks@ziibiing.com

as LA is burning, a swath of the country is recovering from an ice storm, Alabama is preparing for up to 6” of snow and I’m praying for the TX power grid, a reminder: we don’t need climate action just for future generations, we need it now. the climate crisis is here, all around us

This is insane.

Hard to process the devastation I’ve witnessed in the last two days. Still in a state of shock for those who have lost so much in such a short period of time. #NoWords 💔

I have always loved public libraries, but having young children has exponentially increased my gratitude and sense of indebtedness to them. Our local library is such a huge part of our lives. The books, the programming, the very intentionally curated kids’ section. It’s all such a gift.

You are up to date.
