News and politics junkie. Liberal. Rejoiner. City professional so a lot of that goes with the territory 🤦🏻‍♂️. Love art, culture, gym, jousting with the inevitable feeling of existential dread. Oh yeah, refugee from Twitter.

Very nice to hear a sane voice from Piddington. Serious respect to this woman, who is apparently already being othered by more bigoted villagers.

Dear BBC News, If you'd like to actually fulfill your mandate to inform the public of the reasons people take small boats please feel free to invite me onto any of your shows. I'm a world expert in this with an award winning book on the topic. Or you can just have a man stood shouting in the sea.

Flying to Minneapolis tomorrow to cover the ICE raids for News Agents, what is unfolding and the politics which flows from it. If you’re there or know the city and know people/organisations we should be speaking to, please get in touch. DMs open.

We take no joy criticising a young left-wing UK political figure who has often spoken up for workers' rights and progressive causes. But these barely coherent comments from Zarah Sultana on Ukraine sum up much of what is wrong with her wing of the left www.instagram.com/reel/DQT62ys...

1/Striking speech by Macron: The future of European democracy depends on taking back its digital information space. A remarkable turn from Silicon Valley as source of enlightenment to being a purveyor of slop. And the stakes aren't just ad revenue but the nation. defenddemocracy.eu/macron-democ...

Charlie Kirk spent his life‘s work and all of his energy and time targeting out-groups while arguing for a world in which gun massacres would be easy to enact, plentiful, and inevitable, and he became famous and wealthy doing it, and we’re now not supposed to mention that because it’s not polite.

When Amazon launched in 1995, there were 5,500 indie bookshops in the U.S., with 7,000 locations. By May of 2023, that number had decreased to 2,185 indies & 2,599 locations. When you purchase audiobooks via Libro.fm vs. Audible, you directly support indie bookshops. Let's make that number grow ❤️

French Senator Claude Malhuret: "Washington has become Nero’s court, with an incendiary emperor, submissive courtiers and a jester high on ketamine... We were at war with a dictator, we are now at war with a dictator backed by a traitor."

Just did the same. Encourage others to do this- you can also choose between donating to defence, medical/humanitarian, or rebuilding Ukraine.

The Ukrainian government has a list of places where you can donate to the war effort here. I personally just donated $100: war.ukraine.ua/donate/ Slava Ukraini.

A mass consumer “ #economicblackout,” launched on social media, proposes a boycott of major megacompanies for all 24 hours of #February28 because those firms bowed to a Donald Trump edict and retreated from DEI policies to endorse racism while continuing to raise and/or fix prices.

Incredible thread. Hopefully it’s over-reacting but I fear not. God help Americans and others where it’s fall may have similar impacts.

Where are the defenders of the US as Elon and nameless private agents infiltrate US agencies, commandeer US servers, steal US data, seize US money, march US officials from US buildings? Who sallies forth from the FBI? The CIA? Congress? DoD? The media? This is a coup—and America appears defenseless.

By the way, if you happen to have Audible (I know) then may I INSIST that you find and listen to Hugh Grant's peerless reading of A Christmas Carol. Far and away and by several parsecs the best imaginable performance. There should be awards.

Reform is a party by and for men born in 1967 who believe they were personally gassed at the Somme.

The dramatic increase in post activity is obvious but look at that almost single red line at the end and an interesting insight into his routine - he’s only posting less in the early morning around time ‘normal’ people are waking up.

And this is why Democrats failing to master the politics of climate change will be fatal to the party. They have to figure it out asap. Things are going to suck, and they have to start "a story about who to blame for things sucking." Continually waiting for the next election won't cut it.

Chris Hayes@chrislhayes.bsky.social

Here’s one of my main takeaways: the point of governing is to make people’s lives better, but the point of politics - especially campaigns - is to give people a story about who to blame for things sucking. It’s a real mistake to confuse one for the other, as I have often done!

You are up to date.
